Also, what the fuck are we expecting from oval races that this one just qualifies as "decent" and "Not a bad finish"?

very cool finish

but i'm not here for just photo finishes tho (otherwise the IRL from mid 2000's would be the most popular thing in racing), which is why i'll still say that they ruined this track

Yeah, as far as SS finishes go, that was good. But literally every close finish at normal tracks is, by definition (in my opinion) better than this for the sheer fact that they weren’t aided (manufactured) by restricted HP.

Yeah, that constant 4-wide racing, passing and record amount of league changes through the race was just fucking terrible. Bring back my 500 mile 2 car battles for the win decided by fuel mileage pls.

Significant off-throttle time and the absence of a total reliance on drafting in a pack? You know, Actual Race Car Driving.

But the vast majority of the calendar still provides that. I'm still not getting why one track moving to a superspeedway configuration and providing a different type of racing that may be actually becoming great as the surface ages is some sort of NASCAR cancer.

for the record I'm glad there are people that are enjoying this product

bunched up pack racing is just not my cup of tea these days (loved it when i was a kid - just not a fan of how it's evolved)

We already had two drafting tracks, and that was more than enough. It’s even weirder now because Atlanta is actually better than Daytona/Talladega because handling is a mild factor.

This is the kind of racing (and especially the finish) that NASCAR is going for. They have every reason to be delighted. As do modern fans. They'll be aiming for this approach on more tracks going forward.

To me it more resembles video games and it doesn't have the appeal that other types of stock car racing produce.

That finish will go down as one of the greatest finishes in NASCAR history and rightfully so. The margin between first and third place was .007 seconds. We're not even to the end of February and motorsports already has it's finish of the year. I don't know how any racing series anywhere is going to top that.

Damn right - that "finish" was every gimmick in the last 20 years all put together.

The perfect way to justify more no skill tracks.

that finish was tast, way much better than forcing overtime and see the yellow fly on the final lap with shit happening behind

I don't know what's the problem with xfinity and trucks. Just open track.ini in notepad and change track_gns and cts track_asphalt_grip number...

RIP chances of Indycar getting back any significant superspeedway then, if they're all gonna be dug up and made into either a Restrictor plate banked track or a bullring like Fontana is becoming

What next, restrictor plates on New Hampshire? :8:
