Well say goodbye to the remainder of grass on the backstretch at Daytona. Gonna look like the Talladega back stretch when they come back for the 500. I hate when they remove grass, I love the aesthetic look of it at tracks but I understand why they remove it for pavement

Did the engine came off on that crash? My mother is saying that it came of as we can't see it there when it turns around.

Glad Ryan Preece was able to walk away from that crash. That was the most violent flip I've seen in a long time.

Saw the footage a little while ago. Surreal and scary. Hopefully he’s as intact as he appears.

He's posted a tweet on Twitter since the accident.

Lol went to bed with 5 to go in stage 2 because nothing was happening and missed all the good stuff. Crash of the year candidate for Preece, glad he's okay.

Here is the Tweet from Ryan Preece that was posted after the accident.

Stewart-Haas Racing posted a statement saying that Preece will be kept in the hospital overnight for further testing and evaluation and they will have a further update tomorrow afternoon. They said that he is awake and alert and talking to the staff at the hospital.

Perfect example of why I hate both Fox and NBCs commentators, radio commentary is way better, no dead air unlike this lot:

I hope they don't touch the grass. The grass isn't the problem, the fact that the car turned over on its own initiative is. Take the grass away and Preece instead hits the inside wall the wrong way up at 150+.

Yeah, I know he's mad and I don't care. I do not care. I did not care then. I do not care now. I'm here to race him.

We've seen how many cars slide off there like that and not flip? It's one of those freak occurances.

That flip was a proper NR2003 one. As you noticed, I don't remember when was the last time they rolled in the grass. Also, it's scary/amazing how "blocky" and intact that car is after such a flip. Like throwing Hotwheels from the stairs

And that destroyed the front, back, top and bottom of Newman's old car... :8:

I didn't realise that I clicked reply thread and the forum has a new function to take us back 20 years to when those kinds of huge blowovers and more than six or seven severe sidewinding snap rolls were possible....

And yeah, NASCAR always likes to blame the grass for their stupid car design, whether it be the splitters too low and digging the front of the cars in or the flat bottom of this new car that is gonna need the entire top of the car to open like a gullwing to keep these things on the ground...

But yeah, sure, its the grass, even though the thing was far into the air before it had ever left the track
