I'm surprised at how slow the Cup cars are though. Pole speed about 4 MPH slower than the last time they ran this layout. I know 75 HP is a big dropoff (if I have my details right) but I figured the brakes/mechanical grip would more than make up for that on a track like this. I expect the bigger dropoff at places like Watkins Glen and Road America. |

the newer tires for the Cup cars don't like the General Tire (Hoosier) rubber used by the ARCA cars apparently, so it made the track a bit more slick during practice and early parts of qualifying too |
