go zippy - Season finale for all 3 of NASCAR's nationally based series is this weekend at Homestead. Contending for a series championship includes: Truex Jr., Harvick, Logano & Ky. Busch (Cup) / Hemric, Bell, Reddick & Custer (Xfinity) / Sauter, Moffitt, Gragson & Haley (Trucks). This is the last race for the current rules package for the Cup Series cars on superspeedway & intermediate tracks, as NASCAR is changing the tapered spacer to lower horsepower while also adding downforce for 2019. While the sponsorship holder isn't changing, this is the last race for Camping World branding in the Truck Series as it switches to Gander Outdoors which was recently purchased by Camping World. On the short track scene: Myrtle Beach (SC) has their big race of the year with the Myrtle Beach 400 for Late Model Stock Cars & Tour-type Modifieds. USAC P1 Insurance National Midgets & USAC Western States Midgets is racing at Bakersfield (CA) in the November Classic. Las Vegas Motor Speedway (NV) hosts the West Coast Short Track Championship on the Bullring for the SRL SPEARS Southwest Tour, Lucas Oil Modifieds, USAC Speed2 Western Pavement Midgets & Jr. Late Models. Cherokee (SC) hosts the Carolina Clash Super Late Model finale with the annual Blue-Gray 100. Ultimate Super Late Models, Lucas Oil Southeastern Sprint Cars, FASTRAK Racing Series & Lucas Oil Southern States Midgets headline the Georgia State Outlaw Championships / North South Mason Dixon Challenge at Screven (GA). Southern All Star Late Models is racing at Lancaster (SC). Ultimate Sprintcar Championship / Speedcars / Late Models is racing at Murray Bridge (SA) in the Ultimate Speedway Challenge. V8 Dirt Modifieds (DMA Queensland) is racing at Hi-Tec Oils Speedway in Toowoomba (QLD). Brett Moffitt seemed to get the wins when he needed them the most all season, so I had a good feeling about his chances going into tonight's race. Happy to see the underdog win. Brett Moffitt's phone better be ringing off the hook with opportunities for 2019, if not something is seriously wrong. |

The battle Moffitt had with Gragson for the lead in the latter stages of the race before he checked out was pretty awesome. Other than that... oof. Not the most memorable race. At least we got an awesome winner. Also, feel bad for Robby
