Jesse Iwuji will be the first Naval Academy graduate AND former collegiate football player to play in an FBS bowl game to compete in a race at Daytona.

Trump's meeting with Kissinger re: North Korea today so...looks like Iwuji's gonna be the last to do those things as well.

40 cars entered for the 500. Five of them (#7, #62, #66, #92, #96) are part-time only, and another, the #23 of BK Racing, is in receivership.

Odds on NASCAR cutting the field to 36 next year?

Shootout on a Sunday. Feels weird man.

Still, chances are we'll get a full ARCA race for once?

They had 61 cars in 2007

THAT.. is the best thing by far about the Cup on sunday. I liked the race on saturday night, more grip and crazyness. Though last year the 500 during the day had all that. Also cause it's the holliday carnival, and it was hard already to not go on travel at saturday because of the night races. Now the sunday as well. At least this year I had a camping just last week and could have some rest time staying at home watching the races.

As for the races, I'm really pumped up. Now with no Indy at Fontana, this certainly is one of my favorite times of the year. Gonna watch and even cast some of the races. Can't wait for them.

10 years to fuck it all up. I know the economy did the sport no favors, but Brian France did a lot of shit to turn fans away.

The COT/G6 and charters screwed it up.

Anyone else more uneasy than normal for the ARCA race? They'll be running their new, CoT-style bodies. Lots of drag only gonna pack them up more tightly.

There is also a Decker in the race

Hillenburg was raving on twitter that all 3 lanes are fast instead of just hugging the bottom, and it's "the most competitive field" in 20 years or something along those lines.

Just from being at the test and being out there in the new car, it's going to be a wild wild race. The cars are extremely stable so, easy false sense of security. Speeds are slow compared to previous years, around 180 in the draft today. But, that again makes for a bigger more bunched up pack.

Spec body, spec motor and restrictor plate... it's basically IROC. Same speeds as IROC too.

An IROC race at Daytona with 40 cars and a metaphorical talent gap the size of Montana. God save them all.
