I took some photos of the Sprint Vision screens while it showed the replays of the big modified wreck, gives an idea of how wild it was. The ACT race ended on lap 44 due to darkness after a big pileup on the backstretch, couldn't tell what happened cause it was so dark, all I could see was lots of sparks.

If they were so determined to press ahead with their bullshit "we have no idea what makes for good racing, we just lucked out from 1950-2006 or so" horsepower reduction, why did they even bother letting the teams run with less downforce?

"Oh shit guys, you know the teams and drivers badgered us into running the test their way, turns out they're RIGHT, less downforce and more power meant the test race was very exciting. Shitttttt, now when we carry on blindly with our own changes because we do things our way and don't let the teams dictate shit to us, the fans will riot"
"Don't worry brother, no fucker will care when we serve up some exciting side by side racing that our amazing, less horsepower, more downforce racing will provide"
"....dude...did you even listen"
"I did, NASCAR is always right, remember. We'll just throw a hell of a lot more yellows so they only get 2 laps of good racing per run, soon as they spread out again, debris yellow. That's the plan *taps nose*"

I honestly think they're reducing the horsepower to save money on their event insurance or some horseshit like that because it makes zero sense otherwise.

at this point i'm just rooting for them to descend further into terribleness, at a certain point watching the whole sport die became entertaining and fulfilling but i can't pinpoint when it happened, probably a few weeks after that Fontana race where everyones tires blew out after 14 laps, that was when i finally gave up on the sport entirely, now i just watch it out of Schadenfreude and really that's the only way to go

All I keep thinking is NASCAR's loss is INDYCAR's gain, but then if INDYCAR keeps finishing its season months before everyone else, they can't offer too much of an alternative to NASCAR's inevitable decline.

Indycar is certainly a much better product and a much more credible series at this point, but that doesn't matter because nobody really gives a shit about it.

Yep, Indycar really needs to take advantage of NASCAR killing itself.

They need to get more interest outside the Indy 500, to the casual it's like they race once a year.

Green flag moved up: Due to the chance of rain today at New Hampshire Motor Speedway, NASCAR has moved the start time of the race up 5 minutes, from 2:17 to 2:12pm/et.

Five whole minutes.
