That would definitely eliminate the dig-in effect but I can't imagine that would be any good for scrubbing off speed, which is really the main concern with grass for a couple different reasons. Originally NASCAR started having their tracks pave infield sections to help reduce the effect of cars lifting off at high speed. But crashes like Elliott Sadler's (2010) and Jeff Green's (2003) on the backstretch at Pocono also illustrate how much speed cars carry through the grass. They slid a long way and still had huge impacts.

That's true. Maybe they could have both, sorta like the legends courses intersecting the 1.5 mile tracks' frontstretch infields.

Here is what Leonard Wood built Trevor Bayne for Christmas.

I didn't know that Leonard Wood built R/C cars. That car looks awesome.

Best Buy to be primary sponsor for Edwards for 2 races, Kenseth for 9 races.

I would of just stayed with Petty for 20 races for probably the same price.

But it is Best Buy. Terrible company.

I'm hoping that they pick up more than just 9 races for Kenseth.

So what's more dangerous at Pocono?

A) Having grass along the Long Pond straight?

B) Having what appears to be an extremely NARROW Long Pond straight where speeds exceed 180 mph?

Indy's front stretch is narrower and faster.

When's the last time you've seen a crash on the narrow part of Indy's front stretch?

I can think of several accidents on the Long Pond straight but not a single one at Indy.

Allmendinger to Penske? Ragan to the #43? Rumors floating around that A.J. Allmendinger could be headed to the #22 Penske Dodge and David Ragan to the #43 RPM Ford. If true Allmendinger moves over from the #43 RPM ride and Ragan moves from the sponsorless possibly closed up #6 Roush Fenway Racing Ford.(12-21-2011)

It's apparently already official, AJ Allmendinger will drive the #22 for Penske.

Interesting... that's great for Dinger, and I can't wait to see what he can do in the best equipment he's ever had. Still, as much as I wouldn't really want to see the 43 "soiled" by having Kurt Busch in it, I'm sure sponsors would *still* prefer him to Ragan.

Could be wrong, tho!

Whatever happens, whoever drives it, I hope they get the 43 back into victory lane. The way they ran last year, that's not too far fetched.

Well done Roger. Ragan's a good guy and all but he more than had his shot and now it's put up or shut up time for the Dinger.

I can remember this one back in 2004.

Blow 'em down, AJ.

Yeah, I know he's mad and I don't care. I do not care. I did not care then. I do not care now. I'm here to race him.

If Ragan gets the #43 now, I can just imagine Kurt yelling his trademark FAAAAAACK.

The 43 is now the best ride available... if he doesn't get it, it's Front Row Motorsports, TRG or even possibly NHRA for Kurt! At least, that's what I think, anyway.

It's this kind of off season news that gets me all verklemt over the new season starting. heheh

It looks like David Ragan is the favorite for the #43 next year. I'd like to see AJ do well in the #22. I think David Ragan would be a good choice for the #43 team. Roush didn't want to let him go but sponsorship issues didn't leave him with much of a choice. Now, Ragan might be able to continue to race with Roush's engines under the hood.
