Police in Huntersville, N.C., made a drug bust Tuesday, and one of those arrested is a front tire changer on Juan Pablo Montoya's #42 Earnhardt Ganassi Racing Sprint Cup car. Trevor L. Lysne, 40, is charged with trafficking marijuana, possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana and maintaining a dwelling to distribute marijuana, according to the police report. Jerome D. Frey, 27, also was charged with trafficking marijuana and possession with intent to sell and deliver after the Huntersville Police Department intercepted about 10-1/2 pounds of marijuana that had been shipped out of California.(Sporting News). Frey is a mechanic at Earnhart-Ganassi.(8-10-2011)

I really don't know why some of these people in the sport can waste such amazing opportunities on something as trivial as drugs.

Lol, no. You are a bit high on that guess. Say more like $30,000-$50,000.

Daytona Intl. Speedway and NASCAR in the planning stages of scrapping the two-car tango and returning to pack racing in 2012. Thank god.

Curious as to what exactly they can do short of telling the drivers not to do it.

Rip out the cooling so that it overheats the engine as quickly as it used to.

Obviously, something slightly more scientific than 'rip out', but to the same end.

Yeah, I know he's mad and I don't care. I do not care. I did not care then. I do not care now. I'm here to race him.

If they did that then sitting in one big pack with cars in front and behind you isn't going to do wonders for the cooing is it?

Which is why I said more scientific.

There's a fine line between being able to run in a pack and going in one direction towards having to run single file and in the other towards being able to push a guy around for 40 laps.

I trust NASCAR to find that line.

Their Sporting Regulations are backwater fuckwittery, but the technical side is usually average.

They're probably not going to tweak the COT body just for 2 tracks. And ordering the drivers to not bump-draft will lead to a situation like the 2009 fall Dega race. The answer is definitely in the cooling IMHO, by banning or severely restricting the pressurized cooling systems that the teams have been running for the last few years.

There's something I really liked about the noise those superspeedway cars made. I want that back.
