Multiple people familiar with the decision say Red Bull plans to leave NASCAR at the end of this season. Those familiar with the decision also say a team official traveled to Michigan Speedway last weekend to inform industry leaders of Red Bull's decision. The people spoke on condition of anonymity because an official announcement has not been made to team employees. Red Bull is both the owner and sponsor of the two-car NASCAR team. The team has struggled since its 2007 entry into NASCAR. Red Bull also owns a pair of two-car Formula One teams. Current points leader Sebastian Vettel is the reigning world champion and has won five of seven Grand Prix races this season

Fox has held informal discussions with NASCAR about a new TV rights agreement that would allow the network to put some of its Sprint Cup races on Speed. David Hill, Fox Sports chairman, said Fox would like to see some of the 13 regular-season races it televises on Speed. A Fox source said the company could ask for as many as six races for the network. Fox is five years into an eight-year, $1.76 billion contract with NASCAR that mandates Fox televise all of its Sprint Cup races on its broadcast channel except for two non-points, specialty events - the Sprint All-Star Race and the Gatorade Duels from Daytona, which air on Speed. If it wants to move regular-season Cup races to Speed before its contract expires in 2014, it would have to amend its agreement. Fox sources were skeptical such a move would be made before the contract ends. The move would allow Speed to use live NASCAR broadcasts to increase the license fee that cable and satellite operators pay each month, which is currently around 30 cents, according to sources. In addition to talking about putting Sprint Cup races on Speed, Fox has raised the possibility of making NASCAR a stakeholder in Speed and turning it into a joint-venture project. Sources familiar with those conversations said that they have been ongoing for several years. By partnering with NASCAR on Speed, Fox could avoid competing with the property if it decided to launch its own channel.(Sports Business Journal/Scene Daily)(6-20-2011)

Dear FOX/David Hill:
Fuck off - You guys are idiots. Make your fucking broadcasts watchable and this wouldn't be an issue.

It's almost as stupid as hiring a driver with a handful of career stockcar starts to drive in a brand-new Cup program, then firing said driver for a lack of performance and replacing him with a driver with only a handful of career stockcar starts. Speaking of which, good fucking riddance Red Bull. Never has so little been done with so much by so many.

And another Daniel Bahar idea dies on its arse.

Here is a list of road course ringers for Road America.

7-Ron Fellows
18-Michael McDowell
22-Jacques Villeneuve
33-Max Papis
53-Andrew Ranger (This car is being fielded by the team he drives for in the K&N East Series)

Also, Jason Bowles is driving the #64 Fuel Doctor Toyota for Rusty Wallace Inc.

It looks like the only two double-duty drivers are McDowell and Carl Edwards. Brad Keselowski isn't entered and Joe Gibbs isn't running the #20 car this week.

Those are all possiblities. RCR could have a ride open if they can't re-sign Bowyer.

That would also leave Cole Whitt without a ride in Trucks.

According to this article (in French), due to a 1.6 million debt by ISC hosting the race, there may not be a Nationwide race at Montreal race after this year unless the Quebec government picks up some of the tab:

http://www.radio-canada.ca/sports/sport ... trat.shtml

There's also a rumor that they could possibly move the race to Mosport.

Mosport doesn't seem like it'd be in shape for a Nationwide race.

Well, crap! I had heard during the Continental Tire Race at the Glen that Roush might keep Carl in Sonoma to focus on the Cup points and putting Billy Johnson in the #60, but I guess Carl wants to come and ruin things. :x

I wouldn't be against seeing a Nascar race at Mosport. It's a very nice track with several good passing opportunities. A lot of series that race there put on good shows.

I think you're talking about Greg Zipadelli, who was Stewart's crew chief during his first ten seasons as a driver.

UPDATE: Jay Frye, vice president and general manager for Red Bull Team Racing, said Tuesday he is optimistic that he can line up investors to keep the organization intact for the 2012 season. "We have talked to some people who have great enthusiasm about what we're doing," Frye said on a conference call. "We believe we can put something together rather quickly in 30 to 45 days. But the process has just started. We had a lot of inquires yesterday. The goal is to keep the Red Bull team continuing on the path it's on." Frye said he couldn't get specific about ongoing negotiations. He said he learned a few weeks ago that Red Bull might pull out of the sport. Frye said it's possible Red Bull could stay involved in the team in some capacity in the future.(ESPN.com)(6-21-2011

They could stay involved as a sponsor rather then ownership.
