NASCAR needs Harvick and Busch to be like this. This sport will die without some sort of storyline.

This isn't pro wrestling, it's automobile racing.

Auto racing without interest. No Allison, Petty, Waltrip, Earnhardt. The sport is at it's strongest when the favorite drivers win and theirs some sort of intense rivalry.

+1

Imagine if in the history of NASCAR, no emotions carried over race to race. Once the checkered flag flew, it was just another automobile race in the books. That would suck imo. What might have me tuning in more that I would next week is due to this Harvick/Busch deal, just to see what might happen.

Drivers can be rivals without things getting stupid.

Rivals should outrace each other. They shouldn't wreck each other, possibly taking themselves or other drivers out in the process.

The most boring auto race in the history of life is inconceivably better than anything that has ever happened in pro wrestling.

This is a proper +1.

Some of the most intense racing involved taking the other car out. See the bump and run, Bristol with Earnhardt and Labonte, etc...

Seen in the paint schemes page that Steve Arpin in in the 32 truck now, does that mean that Brad "I crash a lot" Sweet is gone?

Mark Martin is supposed to drive at least one race in the #32 truck, and Blake Feese will drive it for 2 races.
Arpin has been announced for 5 races. I also believe the plan was to run Allgaier, Sorenson, and Leffler in a few as well.
Perhaps they will add a 4th truck for Sweet when he isn't in the 32, like how Sorenson and Leffler sometimes get kicked to the #30 in Nationwide.

For some reason it takes Brad a long time to adjust to what he is racing. He wasn't worth a shit in Sprint Cars till about 2006 iirc, which I believe was his 2nd, maybe 3rd year.

If he's given time to adjust to full weight stock cars/trucks he will be fine. Problem is I don't see it happening.

SOMEONE SIGN BRIAN CLAUSON!

I'm ranting here, but it really is crying shame that this guy is racing sprint cars in the Midwest still. Ganassi dropped the ball by not keeping this kid under some sort of contract. I just hope he gets another chance, whether that is in Indycar or NASCAR. So much talent wasted. Hope he wins the Indy Lights races he gets to run.

Random Rant for the week, over.

Cope twins to attempt Iowa race: - After rewriting the NASCAR history books last year, the Cope Twins - Angela and Amber - plan to add another chapter by becoming the first twins to compete in a NASCAR Nationwide Series race - on Sunday, May 22, at Iowa Speedway. The duet, which made history last season by becoming the first twins to ever race against each other in one of NASCAR's top three divisions by competing in a Camping World Truck Series race at Martinsville last October, make their return to NASCAR at the beautiful 7/8-mile tri-oval in Newton, IA, just 30 miles east off Des Moines, IA. The twins, nieces of 1990 Daytona 500 Champion Derrike Cope, will be driving for a new team in Keystone Motorsports. Amber will pilot a #93 Ford while Angela will behind the wheel of a #94 Chevy. The team plans to also run the Nationwide Series race at Kentucky Speedway in July, with hopes of competing in more races later in 2011. Odyssey batteries, which served as a major sponsor for their history making run at Martinsville, is back again as a co-primary on both cars to support the 27-year-olds from Puyallup, Washington, in their Nationwide Series debut.(HB&M Sports)(5-10-2011)

I would love to hear what some drivers think of Derrike Cope. The off chance that you ever see him on tv in the background he is always standing by himself.

So the record for cautions in a Nationwide race might be broken at Iowa.... I still remember when the Cope twins ran in an ARCA race at Kentucky one year, I think both of them spun out at least twice, if not more.

But they weren't completely awful in the truck race at Martinsville last year. They were bad, but definately better than Lafferty and Mattioli.
