Feels strange looking through the driver list and not speculating about the condition of the front end of Newman's car and if it will survive the race... :(

Was gonna say that felt like a shakedown cruise with people just running in the new cars without trying too hard

Then the last lap happened lol

Logano yesterday on his approach to the duel: "I think as soon as you get scared of crashing and those type of things you are never going to win. So, I am going to go race and if we crash, so be it, we will figure it out."

Can't say he didn't warn us.

Surprised to still see cars as significant as the 11 not running the manufacturer C-pillar trim. Don't manufacturers care about brand identity and not having their cars look like '95 Chevy Cavaliers from the side? Is it really so much harder to put that little decal on the window than it is to put all the headlight, taillight and grille decals on?

Logano is going to a backup car. Penske only had 2 backup cars at the track. A lot of the big teams were in the same situation.

I didn't get to watch the duels but I just watched the highlights. I'm sticking by my theory that the racing is going to suck this year as they work out the kinks/get some more practical time to analyze the racing. Curious as to what this weekend is going to bring. But if that is true about the roof flaps/hinged bumper thing and that means that no cars will ever get airborne again I'm never gonna watch NASCAR again /s (kinda)

The booth mentioned some lap times late in the second race that would have put them around 190-191 average.

I did notice with a few laps to go (when they were showing Logano’s bumper cam) that the RPM on the 22 was going WAY up as Buescher pushed him. They happened to be showing live speeds on the scoring graphic at moment. They entered T3 at 195. So some speed definitely seems to be there, but ONLY if you get a tandem-style push.

I don't understand this, it wasn't THAT big a crash, I know they have a practice session today but surely if there's another incident, those in backup cars will have their original race cars repaired by Sunday to use? :?

Nothing in those races made me think "Yeah, that car is KILLED for the weekend" anyway.

Bad night for Fox.

Duel 1, it was clear to any blind man watching that Grala was going to get the final spot because he had settled in rather nicely in that second pack and was running about 3 seconds a lap faster than the tandem of McLeod and Yeley. Yet it took till well after the checkered flag for Mike Joy to realize Grala had beaten Yeley.

Duel 2, it took about 6 replays for Mike Joy to finally understand that it was Harrison Burton and not Michael McDowell that tagged the spinning Logano car, when it was clear as day watching it live that it was Burton. As if that weren't enough, they clearly showed Burton make a U-turn at the end of pit road and go up the pit lane backwards instead of running the cool down lap. Joy still insisted it was McDowell that struck Logano.

It's time for Fox to hire a new play by play guy. Hire Allen Bestwick!

There's just one race left for the weekend (in Cup) and it's the biggest one of the year. If you have a back-up car that's as good as the primary, just use that and send the wreck back to the shop for repairs.
