Next year's race is actually going to be 250 miles long with a starting grid determined by a market analysis of each driver's social media presence.

Nascar is basically a 10-year kid that just got NR2003, downloaded a fictional NFL teams carset, made a fictional league of fictional drivers, and writes down all the race results and point standings in a binder folder because it's his fantasy series and HE MADE HIS OWN DAMN RULES!

I was only half paying attention but did they ever show the speeds from the last group?

They didn't. It wasn't the fastest, but JAFF got it. Does it matter? Not to NA$CAR on FOX.

So either fox is utterly useless or there was something fishy or both.

I love how many times DW yelled "you couldn't make it up!" in commentary as if that was somehow going to pre-emnt any suspicions.

NASCAR officials (Steve O'Donnell I believe) talking about qualifying now in the Media Center

The last time I checked, NASCAR didn't make a rule that the drivers have to sit on pit road til the last possible nanosecond. The teams and drivers did. So to any and all teams who fail to qualify or get their shit tore up in qualifying, I think it's great. You want to play the game, you get burned, that's your own fault. I do believe there should be one rule change, a minimum speed rule, or if you're letting off the gas, you have to be on the apron or you're automatically DQ'ed. No time for qualifying, and no provisional option. You could NEVER impede someone elses progress in single car runs, and should not be able to now. And that goes for any track, not just Daytona/Talladega.

This was pretty fuckin stupid. Hopefully Nascar puts down the fuckin bong and brings back regular qualifying next year (at least for the Daytona 500).

Going by that press conference..absolutely no chance single car qualifying is coming back.

Also someone mentioned radio chatter between Radcliffe and Kenseth about a few seconds added to the clock in the end of the last segment.

Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Denny Hamlin's cars were both found to be illegal after today's qualifying session.
Jr was too low on the left front
Hamlin's track bar split was too high by .75 inches

To think... Perhaps millions of NASCAR's "new fans" that they so dearly want to attract watched that farce on live network TV.

Single car runs. The only answer that actually makes sense.

Oh look, a stupid qualifying format.

I guess NASCAR won't give a damn though, they got a wreck from it, which is what the "fans" want.

I've stuck by NASCAR, hell it's their series and their rules... I've butted heads with Chris A about this.... But today was completely ridiculous. NASCAR should be embarrassed. They fucked up and hardcore. And I love Tony calling out Kenny Wallace. Today was pathetic.
