Old Atlanta was unnecessarily dangerous with the narrow front straight and the oddly angled walls on the backstretch. But yes, I did like it better.
Phoenix, Loudon, martinsville all have narrow front straights? The rear retaining wall could have been changed. With the right adjustments, it woulda cleaned the track up safety wise, very nicely.

The track redesign wasn't about safety anyway, it was about having a configuration that supported more grandstands and more crowd capacity. Perhaps not the wisest of priorities for Atlanta.

Since the IRL isn't too bothered with going back there perhaps a perfect NASCAR road course would be Cleveland...

I don't think I'll ever be happy with Indycar, nay Motorsports as a whole until I see cars racing at Cleveland again.

A layout perfect for both drivers and fans, wide and fast so the drivers weren't scared to put a move on one another because if it went wrong, oh well, there's nothing to hit, just try again next lap....

Want...Cleveland..back...

NASCAR might bitch about the lack of grandstands about the place but I'm sure they could find some temporary rent-a-stand for the back sections or something....

You can't do anything about the back, there's water right there.

At those tracks, you aren't running 175 mph off turn 4 ;)

Dover you're running pretty damn fast with an even narrower front straight.
