That's right, not sure why I thought of owners points. Derp.

Probably wouldn't matter from a driver standpoint with either Sadler or Vickers, both aren't eligble for driver points in Sprint Cup since they are running for Nationwide points. While he isn't a JGR driver, it might be cool to see Martin in that car if they could work out a deal with MWR, he is 25th in driver points and still would have a legitimate shot at making the chase if he ran the rest of the season.

I'd like to see that very much and hope Gibbs and MWR consider it. Vickers would surely be more than willing to fill for Mark in the #55 till then.

I haven't claimed any expert opinion on this one. I don't know if Hamlin's impact with the inside wall was caused by Hamlin, Logano, circumstances, bad luck or the ghost of Dale Earnhardt. However I have trouble accepting Woodski's version since he's obviously trying to defend Logano with all his might and has voiced some deregatory comments on Hamlin. Hence the injury is Hamlin's fault.

btw, Logano is still quiet on twitter while Hamlin said most of the drivers got back to him following the crash but not Logano.

So, in other words you don't give a damn who's really at fault ;)

Denny Hamlin injured himself.

Not at all. I know there are people on this board who have had back issues, me included, this is serious. Mine isn't as bad as some but there's many days I have to do the stand up, sit down shuffle. Unfortunately I see Denny's 2013 season, as far as the championship, over. Hoping for the best.

Hamlin has previously struggled with back problems; his father also has had a bad back, and Hamlin believes it's genetic. His back occasionally locks up, and he's undergone rehab and injections to try and make it better.

It's unclear whether the Fontana injury is connected to or exacerbated by Hamlin's existing back problems.

No-one is debating who is at fault. Rather we're discussing Denny's actions post contact with Logano which exacerbated the impact with the inside wall.

This is a discussion board, isn't it?

Woodski sounded like he's driven NASCAR equipment on regular basis hence I questioned his opinion. And like I've said I don't know what caused Hamlin to crash into the inside wall since the contact with Logano was deemed not responsible by Woodski and whoever shared his view.

Can you still drive race one lap, let a relief driver take over, and still get the points? If Hamlin doesn't miss any races, he will be in the chase.

I would imagine even that would be too risky for his doctors to allow. If there's a first lap wreck and he gets caught up in it, it might just paralyse him, who knows.

Personally speaking I've never driven a stock car so no I am not an expert but I have watched a lot of crashes because after all that's how I signed up for the original site in 2004. I notice crashes late in the race seem to be quite heavier to non-racing for the win incidents. No one here knows what was going through Hamlins head and for all we know Denny might have though Logano crashed as well and he might be able to save his car. In my field of expertise, pilots who die in crashes usually fly the plane right into the ground fighting it the entire way no matter how bleak the situation. Who are we to say Denny wasn't driving the car all the way to the wall still thinking about the win?

This is exactly how I see it. I can even see it possible he didn't know Busch had just passed them both. In that moment, his main concern was beating Joey to the line, because that was the car that was in his door. He was driving the car past it's limit already trying to beat Logano. When Joey slipped up and hit him, he probably fought it to the bitter end. I didn't see him clipping Joey as trying to hook him, just as him thinking he still had a shot to beat him and never letting up.

You can blame Joey for the contact, but you can thank the design of the inside retaining wall for his injury.

Auto Club Speedway on why there was no SAFER barrier.

Although I suppose Fontana has a history of waiting for a driver to be hurt or worse before they introduce common-sense safety changes.

At least the champion is speaking up about it.

Yeah, I know he's mad and I don't care. I do not care. I did not care then. I do not care now. I'm here to race him.

I was about to say that the track had something to do with it.

That little ramp before the wall didn't help matters much either.

Zucker logic right there.
