Cheers, HOF inductee Bruton. as much as we all love darlington the decision was mostly a geographic one. at the time there were no nascar events in the midwest to my knowledge, while the southeast was fairly saturated. texas having pretty much no competition in the region meant that they could guarantee 2 sold-out races per year, while darlington had to compete with bristol, charlotte, rockingham, and martinsville. fortunately we still have the lady in black - RIP rockingham. |
