The channel which this is posted on has been putting up a lot of old racing footage, mainly from NASCAR but also from Indycar and F1. There's some nice footage of James Hylton battling with Bobby Isaac, unfortunately James got in a big crash in this race which meant he could no longer beat Bobby for the championship. There's also a heavy head-on crash for Neil Castles as well.

Famed writer Tom Wolfe will be best remembered by racing fans for his 1965 Esquire essay on "The Last American Hero" Junior Johnson. Here's the article in full:

I believe Smiff TV found an old Car and Track episode that wasn't rebroadcast either by Speedvision or Dale Earnhardt, Jr.

Was that the last race to have two cars flip in the one accident in NASCAR?

Most likely, unless you count the old Dash Series. Elliott/Earnhardt at Talladega in 1998 get an honorable mention.

There's some solid racing early in this one.

At 10:20 or so we hear about an "unknown and unrated" driver by the name of Bill Elliott.

Unfortunately, when I think of this race, I think back to JohnsonJack. My mind works that way. Then I fortunately think of Tristar, woodski and the ost.

I remember one special Federal Boxing Day I went downtown to Maxi and they had a bin of old VHS tapes for 80% off. One of those tapes was called "Hot Hits and Screeching Tires of 91." My uncle at the time (he's still alive just not my uncle anymore) bought the tape along with "Behind The Scenes of Evening Shade." We watched both tapes when we got home and I remember seeing all sorts of clips from speedweek 91. My favorite was when Carl Miskotten Jr. hit a five gallon bucket in turn 3 and he had to drive the rest of the race with two gloves on his hand

This reminds me, I have a funny story about the 1997 gargoyles 300. Me and my uncle went to Sobey's the night before the race because Dale Fischlein had a special where you get 2 for 1 Old Dutch Rip-L's if he finishes in the top 5. The only catch was you had to go the night before or it didn't count. So there we are watching the race the next day and wouldn't you know it, Fischlein slips on the starters stand and instead Busckshot Jones brother Ricky has to start the race in his place. No one knew this at the time but both Dale and Ricky had the same hat size so it was a no brainer. Around lap 30 his hat flies off and everyone notices that his hair is the wrong colour. The jig was up and they cancelled the contest. We both enjoyed the chips but at the time my uncle was really upset.

This reminds me of a story my uncle once told me during the running of the 1992 Daytona ARCA 200. David Simko just passed by the camera and my uncle started to tell me why he doesn't use Simpson Garage Door and Repair anymore. There was a big storm back in 90 and his house lost power. During the surge I guess it fried his garage door motor or something. So he calls up Simpson Garage and I think it was Simpsons kid who picked up the phone. My uncle never liked Simpsons kid because I guess he was always hanging out by the gas station with some other punks. Simpsons kid takes a message and tells my uncle that he'll call back after lunch. It took three days to hear back from Simpson. My uncle had to park his car in the street that entire time because he can't open the door manually because of his back. Simpson calls him back and quotes him for like $700 or something which is outrageous. My uncle agrees to it anyways and it took Simpson another two days to come by and fix it. My uncle paid up and had to call him back to fix the door two more times because it was acting up. That door never did work right. One of the bulbs burnt out and he can't fix it because of his back. I think David Simko ended up finishing in the top ten. He had a really good car that day.

Why Did They Forget To Add Lyndon Amick To The List Of Drivers That Were Involved In That Big Pileup On Lap Number 87 In This Race?: Common problem. I forgot Lyndon Amick as recently as yesterday.

Don't understand this question. Can You Please Add A Question Mark Next Time?

Where Were The 17 Car Of Matt Kenseth & The 74 Car Of Chad Little During That Big Pileup On Lap Number 87 In This Race? They popped out to Cracker Barrel for some iced tea but came back for the rest of the race.

Why Does The List Say That Kelly Denton Was Driving Car Number 77 When It Was Actually Driven By Mike Harmon? Never trust a list. Especially a list of questions.

Where Would I Get To See Andy Kirby Involved In That Big Pileup? From the car behind him.

Why Did They Not Include Tim Fedewa On The List Of Drivers Involved In That Big Pileup? Tim asked not be named. He's a humble man.

How Did The 43 Car Of Jay Sauter & The 21 Car Of Mike Skinner Avoid Making Contact With Each Other While Avoiding That Big Pileup On Lap Number 87? The car's drivers used the big circle thing in front of them and the metal pedally things at their feet.

How Did The 14 Car Of Larry Foyt & The 38 Car Of Christian Elder Avoid Making Contact With Each Other While Avoiding That Big Pileup On Lap Number 87? Trick question. See above.

Can Someone Please Upload A Version Of This Race With Perfect Quality & Reduced Brightness? Yes.

Do You See Anyone Else That They Forgot To Add To The List Of Drivers That Were Involved In That Big Pileup That Took Place On Lap Number 87 In This Race? I see Michael Knight, BJ and the Bear and Tupac, but it may be the long term effects of imbibing significant amounts of tea brewed with Psilocybe semilanceata.

Can Someone Please Create A Reenactment Of That Big Pileup That Took Place On Lap Number 87 In This Race & Then Post It On Youtube? See here. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1XLnS0tNP5w
