They probably won't as that will scare everyone from doing similar things in the next few races and turn the focus back on how boring the racing is at those tracks.

Sorry for coming in so late on this, but is the controversy that this happened during the chase period, or that it just happened? From what I've read this is being taken very seriously by Nascar yet how is this worse than what Carl Edwards did to Keselowski at Las Vegas a few years back? Back then Nascar's punishment to Carl next to nothing.

It was Atlanta iirc where Edwards went off the reservation with Kesohwanker, but yeah this latest thing happened Sunday.

Looking at what they did to Jeff Gordon after he did exactly the same thing to Clint Bowyer a few years ago, regardless of if he deserves to be parked, he likely won't be.

That'll be what pisses me off if they do, there's no precedence. Just last week at Talladega with Harvick, NASCAR said they can't judge intent. If they have half a brain, they should do the typical points/fine for Kenseth and Danica, and then say "From here on out, if we see an incident which we deem to be intentional, that driver will be subject to be suspended for a race or more."

No announcement of penalties as of 4pm...assuming JGR and Dollar General are scrambling trying to get another driver signed for the weekend.
