Very surprised and disappointed about this. AJs one of the last people in the cup garage I would have expected to hear this news about.

I agree. Even if pot was legalized (and it should be), it would always be treated as a drug by Nascar, at least in certain amounts.

I agree. I admit I've smoked pot and I was much more aware of my surroundings than being drunk.

I'm not disagreeing with you either, but I don't think NASCAR wants drivers that are high while driving, just as they wouldn't want them to be drunk. Pot stays in your system a long time, and we have no idea how long ago the last time he smoked was. He may only smoke during the week, or maybe a little before a race to calm down? Who knows.

I've smoked pot. I'll say that whilst it's not nearly as inhibiting as alcohol, someone certainly shouldn't be driving under its influence. Though, honestly, I doubt he ever did. I imagine it was just still in his system from earlier. It's banned by NASCAR because it's illegal in America, basically. Drivers could still drink and smoke tobacco and do legal drugs, far as I know. I don't think it should be illegal, but that's a topic for another thread.

But yeah, not wise on his part to partake when he could conceivably get caught.

I think it stays in your system for about a month or thereabouts. So we have no way of knowing. I doubt that Allmendinger lit up just before a race, tho. That'd be wholly irresponsible, and the idea of a driver being high out there is pretty scary to think about.

The problem with pot, unlike hard drugs is that you don't actually have to smoke it to intake it, just being within a few meters of someone who is consuming it is enough to get high.

What does this have to do with the race?

Unless they don't test for them, aren't we all forgetting the possibility he was taking some sort of performance enhancing substance? Stamina being the only real advantage I can think of a NASCAR driver needing.

This song reminds me of another song. I've got entirely different lyrics in my head to what he's singing >.<

If Allmendinger doesn't have to sit through a Train 'performance' I'd consider this fiasco a success.
