All in all, best weekend IMO.

If someone offered me exactly that before the weekend, I would've said: "yes, please".

I actually found it very interesting. Looked like Kenseth was going to dominate and take the points, then it was Tony who looked the best bet until he had to fight off Ambrose, then Kahne, and finally Edwards. And even after all that it took Burton running out of fuel for Stewart to get it. My only negative feeling is that I would have literally preferred to see anyone else win it.

Agreed, Tony's a bitch, sucked Burton could'nt get it done.

McDowell finished 33rd. I bet Kyle's happy with that result.

I Just hope that TS can do it! Would really hate to see the Carl win on consistency alone..

A few weeks ago I wanted to see Carl make a mockery of the Chase format by taking the title with his single race win, but now that it looks possible again I'd really rather see Tony win.

I've never been the biggest Stewart fan (still haven't forgiven him for wrecking Gordon in the Glen esses back in 2000 :x ) but you've gotta respect him for bringin back the successful owner/driver.

If Stewart does win the Cup I think he'll be the first one to win the Winston, Nextel and Sprint Cups

well based on what I've built in the simulator using their own published specs, it'll be one almighty failure, only 1 true groove, corners are so fast now you hardly have to brake etc. etc.

They've only really added an extra couple of degrees of banking and a 1 degree difference between the inside and outside plus the dogleg is a little tighter but probably easy flat.

The track isn't really too much different from the old one and I think the racing will be equally as interesting as it was in February.

The repave alone will ensure it isn't.

I believe Crashman said it best:

It's quiet a bit different believe me, turn 1 & 3 are much faster, and as for the dogleg, their designer is stupid, tightening up a corner won't make it easier to go through side-by-side, it makes it harder, it's a single groove track at the moment.

There's basically 10-12 degrees banking from the entry to turn 1, through turn 2, up to turn 3, where it drops to 8-9, not one part of the track is flat now, not even the front stretch.

Stewart is already the only driver to win a Championship under both formats. That being said, I want Edwards to win the Championship, without another race win, however. To show consistency trumps winning, no matter what format.

Also, I am not a fan of Stewart either, but I hold grudges. (Daytona 2006)
