I can only speak for myself, but even as a fan in stands, everytime I walk through the gate I know there's a chance I won't walk out. Racing is dangerous for everyone involved. It sucks terribly when we're reminded of the chance we take when buying a ticket, but every fan has to realize and accept, however miniscule, that there is a very real chance of being hurt or killed. Expect it? No of course not. Brushing it aside as an after thought? Foolish. That's just my opinion. I always sit to the left of my wife and rarely ever turn a blind eye to what's coming at me down the track. Lessons learned from being in the pits. Never, ever turn your back to the cars. Hope for the best for the fans that were injured. I think we all need to remember that the catch fence did what it was supposed to do. It kept the majority of Larson's car inside the track. Had it not done as good a job as it did, instead of dozens of injuries we'd have certainly had dozens of fatalities. I expect a relatively calm 500 tomorrow. Both because of this crash and the fact the Cup cars don't race anything like the Nationwide cars. This race (Nationwide) had just about everything anyone could have asked for until the end and really was an excellent race right up until the last 500 yards or so. |

That chance is always there, and spectators should always understand that. As has been mentioned, it says so on the back of every ticket. Racing is dangerous, even for spectators. |

People should probably check the last 15 pages or so before posting the same material. Especially in the spoilered posts. That said, here's more HQ aftermath pics. Pictures of the injured are spoilered out of respect: Spoiler: |

We've had a widely-publicized crash happen six hours ago with multiple spectator injuries. So what's the hottest search topic on Yahoo! right now? |

I was sitting about 200 feet down towards turn one from where the car went into the fence, I got it all on video. I cannot describe how scared I was, my family and I sat in the stands for a good 45 minutes just in shock, like many other people, I still am having a hard time getting my head around it. I'll post it on YouTube when I get home Monday. |
