It is now misting rain here at the speedway.

There's gonna be so much wrecking that the winner will be multiple laps down on the pace-car.

I hope they race the full distance and finish under the light

Wondering what FOX will do regarding the Academy Awards? What affiliat would they switch the 500 to?

How many NASCAR fans would watch the Oscars over the 500, even if it was a night?

If they can get it in tonight, they should. Monday looks worse and Tuesday is way to late in the week if the small teams are going to make it out west next week.

Just saw the Nationwide race. Kurt Busch... *facepalm* I think Stewart and Sadler would have easily been through there, and maybe Elliott could have had a shot at passing him on the line. Oh well. At least somebody different won.

I think that was the hangup in the past years. Maybe it has changed but in the past it was in their contract that the 500 could only be broadcast on FOX and not on an affiliate channel and when it got delayed in 2003 and 2009 the network put pressure on NASCAR to call the race.

I remember being here in 2009 and they called the race around 7:30, and it didn't rain the rest of the night.

Ahh ok. Like Racefan said above.. I don't consider clashing with the Oscars a big worry for nascar or fox. No race fan or sports fan in general is going to turn off the Daytona 500 to watch a predetermined awards show. I'll flip out if the race actually gets called early due to the Oscars.

Are the academy awards on Fox? I thought ABC had the rights to it
