Stewart Friesen ended up getting the win in the Eastern States 200 at OCFS. CG Morey had a horrible crash after hitting the turn #1 inside wall opening on a restart. This is the second time this year that has happened (Danny Johnson earlier this summer). CG is presently in hospital for a overnight stay according to the track. - Josh Richards won the Dirt Track World Championship at Portsmouth |

CG Morey broke his back in that crash. I believe he was scheduled for surgery last night or today. Terrible wreck that could've been even worse. They finally closed that gap after the crash. There's onboard of it floating around Facebook somewhere. EDIT: Facebook video link of the CG Morey crash from onboard LJ Lombardo's car. Nasty ride. https://www.facebook.com/120718298036820/videos/1003145426559543/UzpfSTQxOTg3MzI3NDgxODIzMDoxMjA3MjAwOTE2MDg1NDU4/ |

World of Outlaws World Finals at Charlotte was pretty damn good overall again this year. Was my 3rd time going in recent years (last 2 being 2014 & last year), and it didn't disappoint. Both of the sprint car races were pretty good, and same for the second Big Block Mod race. Didn't get to watch the first BBM race or both LM races though (wanted to but didn't work out sadly). The track conditions seemed it was a bit tricky. Especially for the afternoon races. Randomly ended up watching a couple of them. Despite some odd sound effects & other random bits, it's a bit better than the shows done by History (from what I remember). It feels like the focus is on the racing side more compared to the previous show also. Surprisingly it also had some "informative" style pieces with it, some of it meant for those who don't follow oval track racing regularly but there was others that focused on what teams were doing for setup adjustments or on certain parts / methods. While I always hate the stupid weaponized crashing incidents that go on there from time to time (NASCAR can be equally blamed for it. Hell, they allow it in the big leagues now sadly). They did capture how a normal night of racing is in the Modifieds there (when it's not batshit crazy with a full moon). |
