I’m sure he didn’t mean anything ethnic about it, but that’s still a pretty brainless choice to make. He’s got to know people will make that connection and rightfully wonder what the fuck he’s getting at.

its a fairly mainstream pop culture reference, seems fine. if we're serious about not tweeting or posting bcause of what the trolls will dig up then we need to just cancel the internet. all of it

NASCAR has ordered Denny Hamlin to complete sensitivity training.

I only wonder when US Congress bans The Simpsons, South Park or Family Guy for being politically incorrect (unless they all go with Bush & Trump jokes in which case they are safe).

really didn't feel larson's ethnicity played into it at all, most people don't even realize he has that in his background.

at least denny didn't say the n-word, lol

Honestly the reaction is no different than if you shared this on your company's email or slack. It's comedy's job to be risque, nobody's going to cancel that. But what you can share when you're not a comedian and representing a bigger group is different.

Denny also could have probably safely shared this in a PM between a group of friends without issue, but seems like nobody knows how to make a joke unless the whole world is the audience now.

As an Asian that thought the joke is funny...yeah, posting that on Twitter for all to see is not the brightest idea for Denny.

The real crime is anyone over 12 still finding Family Guy funny

Not sure they've actually done a joke in 10 years or so, it's just "sterotype here, black joke here, ok now a joke about causing pain to our daughter and the baby is gonna say something that makes him sound gay. Oh the dog is here, he has liberal views, that balances things out and hahah look at him, he did something dog like despite normally walking and talking"

I'm not sure anyone left on those shows actually wants to be there, Family Guy, The Simpsons and whatever else are just cash cows parading the corpses of what used to be a funny show around for money.

I guess trying to do something that gets them "cancelled" is all they have left to gain attention, because they desperately want to be cancelled in all sense of the word

The bigger the audience for your joke, the higher the chance that somebody won't like it. As @

, he could have easily shared the joke with people who would find it funny but instead he shared it with everyone.

'Nobody' is a bit of a reach when there's literally people right above you 'handling' it...

I'm old enough to remember South Park was deemed inappropriate for some audiences when it came out. Guess everyone doesn't give a damn about that "controversy" anymore?

Post subject:  Re: Talladega (Cup, Xfinity, ARCA)

“Deemed inappropriate” is just a statement/opinion. And using South Park as an example to support your fear of drastic consequences is interesting considering it’s been running strong for 25 years and its creators have been wildly successful with that and other projects.

Don’t equate controversy and mild punishment with draconian censorship. It’s just the push/pull of life.
