Well, tech stuff isn't really a judgment call. What's to argue?

Considering that tech at the Snowball Derby is as strict as it is, why do teams try to stretch the rules? It seems like multiple teams get DQ'd every year for something. Christopher Bell's team got DQ'd twice this weekend. The other time was when his car failed post-qualifying inspection.

Last I saw is that Chase Elliott's car is currently in tech.

because the field is that competitive, if you want a chance at running good you have to push the limits

Chase Elliott has passed inspection and is the official winner of the Snowball Derby.

I wonder how it would be like if there was no restrictions in setups.

How often has the winner been DQ'd from this race in the last few years? Not that I'm an expert on the history of this race but I feel like it's happened a lot. I respect that they're willing to DQ a car that's illegal, but it sucks to see a race decided that way.

Four times in the last 10 years.

First and second were disqualified in 2006 for having the same issue as Bell this year.

Ickler was DQ'd in 2008 after brake blowers were found on his car.

Elliott was DQ'd in 2013 after his crew left Tungsten in the car from a previous race. The weight wasn't in the car in a fashion where it would've helped them anyway, but it's the fact that it was against the rules, so they had to throw him out.

What happened with Bell was that when he did his celebration, he turned around and drove the wrong way around the track after picking up the checkered flag, and the tires picked up a lot of rubber on them after they had cooled from running at speed. Had the car been taken directly to the tech shed after crossing the line, I'd bet that Bell's car would've been legal, because the tires looked caked with rubber after I looked at them.

If you want to win the Snowball, don't finish first

I wish KBM could've had a set of tires they ran earlier in the race brought to the tech shed just so they could show Ricky Brooks that their car was legal even though they knew that they were still disqualified.

I did the math based on the weight figures I could find and the amount of weight that he was over by on the left side was just a hair under 5.25 pounds.

Just pick 4 worn tyres from anybody else, at least will get them thinking, or just take the excess of rubber of like they do in Nascar with a torch.
