Where does it say they gave him a waiver? I've only seen things saying he's racing and nothing about granting him the waiver.

That was mentioned several weeks back by the great and powerful Oz (Brian France). I'm too lazy to go look for the article.

No he said they would "try to figure out how to accommodate him" but didn't confirm anything.

From NBC Sports...

Quote:
Now that Kyle Busch is back, what will it take for him to be in the top 30 in points and be eligible for the Chase if he wins a race?

He’ll have 15 points races to do so – unless NASCAR grants him a waiver.

NASCAR did not announce Tuesday if it will grant Busch a waiver. When asked last month about a waiver for Busch, NASCAR Chairman Brian France said “more likely than not we’re going to try to figure out out how to accommodate him.’’

France also said that the injuries Busch suffered after hitting an unprotected concrete wall in the Feb. 21 Xfinity race at Daytona International Speedway “was on us. You can’t run around say that safety is your No. 1 priority and get that stuff wrong.’’

That could indicate that NASCAR is willing to not only waive the requirement that a driver must have attempted to qualify for every race to be Chase eligible but also the requirement that a driver be in the top 30 points if they win a race before the Chase to be eligible.

Point being, Kyle should not be granted a Chase waiver. BUT if he is, No fuckin way you give him a Top 30 waiver.

well, it's not like he'd have much of a chance to win given how bad Toyotas in general have been doing.

That being said, I'd say five races tops before he's ahead of Tony Stewart in points :P

The answer is too obvious: They'll count the 18's owner points instead of Kyle's driver points.

Ben Rhodes is in the NXS race. The kid is a beast, he's like Kyle Busch minus the mean streak. He's going to be a superstar, hopefully Junior can hang on to him and he get's a Cup ride with Hendrick or SHR.

From Louisville as well. Shame we didn't have a strong local driver before NASCAR entered the dark ages.

Only future I see in NASCAR is with the new talent coming up...Guys like Ben Rhodes and Erik Jones are the type of fresh blood we haven't had in NASCAR nearly a decade. The rookie class of 04-05 was the last time we had drivers capable of being competitive in Cup. Afterwards it's been the same stagnate guys running in the mid 20's or talentless money pits in junk equipment filling the field out.

Well, he's running the 500 again this year. Other than that, I haven't a clue.
