I was surprised by the lack of Ron Fellows and some of the other Canadian drivers on the entry list. I read an article from a Canadian publication with comments from J.R. Fitzpatrick, who wanted to run in this event but team owners he talked were wanting $175,000, which he felt was way too much money. I agree with him because it usually costs a Nationwide team $100,000 to run each race. I don't know why some owners wanted that much more than what they need per race weekend.

Recoup some of the costs of building new trucks for one road course race? I'm think NCATS has a bit of a reputation down south as being a wreckfest, and they figured it'd translate to how they drive, period.

Of course, it wouldn't have been the first time the NASCAR guys tried squeezing every dollar they could out of the Canadian guys too...

Cant believe how many drivers have been sick or hurt this year. Hamlin, Stewart and Labonte all out from incidents, and who knows when we'll Eric McClure back.

Apparently, Jeff Gordon's souvenir hauler caught fire in Atlanta.

EDIT: It wasn't a souvenir hauler, it was actually a tour bus of Gordon's

I remember when Bobby lead comfortably when he ran the 43, only to blow the engine. Sucky day. :(

Because I was bored and remembered how Bobby was so good at Atlanta, I went back to look at Bobby's Atlanta stats. Bobby USED to run well at Atlanta. In 2003 he finished 1st and 5th. Since then, he doesn't even have a top 10. A best of 12 (2006[2], 2008), a worst of 43 (2006[1]), has finished lower than 30th 7 times and an average finish of 26.5.

I would say that it was leaving the 18 that did it but his last 2 years in that 18, his finishes were 18, 20, 37, 31.

EDIT: So I looked back at Bobby's time in the 18. Wow, dude dominated unless he blew an engine. So he ran the 18 from 1995-2005. Had 6 wins 2 2nds and an avg finish of 13.5. His best years were race 2 in 1996 thru 2000 where only finished outside of the top 5 one time (43rd) due to an engine! His avg finish then was 6.66 with the 43rd included and an amazing 2.1 if you subtract that 43rd. Wow to say the least. Its so odd that he hasn't had a top 10 since 2003.

I have pretty much erased the COT years from my mind so 2003 feels just like yesterday.

When was his last win? I remember Homestead 2003, when he only led the final lap, saying in victory lane "the track feels old Atlanta, but not quite like old Atlanta, you know?". Anything like Atlanta meant that he was in contention back then.

Yeah, I know he's mad and I don't care. I do not care. I did not care then. I do not care now. I'm here to race him.

The '05 Coke 600 comes to mind... heartbreak for Bobby (and Jimmie haters across the globe) by a couple inches. :(

Apparently Hamlin sprained his hand in the same wreck that broke Martin Truex's wrist last weekend.

He's getting pretty beat up this season.
