Happy for AJ but that sucks for Smith, straight after posting a top 10. I hope he doesn't end up another talented Cup driver busted down to NNS or Trucks while rubbish like Danica and David Ragan continue to float around at the top.

I suspect he'll run the 88 Nationwide car and try to win as much as he can. If he does well, he'll probably get noticed again and get a Cup ride that opens up (hopefully Danica's ride), much like what happened to Almirola

Ah yes, good ol' Martinsville. Give me 15 Martinsville's over the shitty 1.5 milers any day.

This race is key for Brad, Jimmie and Denny are so good around here and Clint could so something as well.

Continuing the "justifying Martinsville" trope that seems to be going on here, when I first came to NASCAR I didn't like it mainly because of the slow speeds and the fact it was so hard to pass.

As I learnt more about the sport I realised that it just requires a completely different style of racing and passed are damn well earnt here and earnt hard!

Anything that adds to the variety of the season is a cool aspect, if a driver can master the challenges to win here AND win at Talladega/Daytona, Watkins Glen, Darlington, Dover and the more unique tracks, then he's a true champion.

Martinsville is awesome because it's really hard to screw it up with crappy tires and overly aero-dependent cars like the rest of the schedule because the speeds are too low for any of that stuff to matter. Hopefully the race isn't dead boring now that all of us have expressed our love for Martinsville though.

never been a huge martinsville fan because of the very low speeds and the track layout. with that said though...the races tend to be pretty exciting hehe just look at what happened earlier this season! newman spun everyone and stole the win hahaha i love it.

Peyton Sellers will be in the #60 truck. The #93 truck is basically going to be another RCR entry.

I never used to like watching Martinsville on tv, but I've been there a few times and it's one of the few tracks I actually like returning too. I'm going to the race this weekend, going to eat so many of those delicious hot dogs.

That is why I won't watch. Cup driver(s) in truck field at Martinsville = boring

I've always hated Cup drivers in lower-tired series, and hate the argument that "big names put fans in the seats" for those events. That may be partially true, but if you build an entirely different group of drivers with talents and personalities of their own, I think it would feel like you got two or three completely different shows per weekend.

Kinda like how CART was completely different from the IRL, back in the day.

It would take a while to establish that kind of relationship between the series, but it would be awesome. It'll never happen, of course, but it would be awesome nonetheless. The "only running for one title" rule has helped a bit, though.

Also, remember when the worst of the Buschwhackers we had to worry about were the likes of Jimmy Spencer, Joe Nemechek and Michael Waltrip? Or other guys like Dick Trickle that didn't always win in the Cup Series? Damn. Those were the days, man.

As far as I can tell, Hurricane Sandy won't be inland enough to affect MArtinsville until Monday.

Anyone got a good stream? Motorsport49 doesn't seem to be showing it and the stream on firstrow keeps conking out.

Thanks.

Firstrow started working again. I'll keep to this one though since it seems more stable.
