Nice. What camera did you get? Quality looks great.

Sony HDR-FX7.

It was near the limits of my price range but I figured it was worth it get a somewhat professional HD camera.

We are now coming into week 5 up here and I have a better idea of our car counts for the year. Pretty much every class has seen smaller fields, but this seems to be consistent with every track in NY state, and crowds are small as well, not good. Rain has been a minor problem and forced a couple shows to be called before every feature had run, we have a big backlog of features to be made up over the coming weeks.

Our one bright spot has been the Sportsman class, which as I posted previously, had 58 cars on opening night. Those numbers took a light drop to 42 the next week, and haven't dipped below 37 all year, we even have to run a consi to fill the 32 car field, which hasn't happened in a long time. The racing has been wild, as you would expect when you put a bunch of mostly teens and 20 somethings and even a near 70 year old into fast, fairly evenly matched cars. The first few weeks were pretty tame, but last week was a bit more destructable with two hard multi car pileups in the first 6 laps before it rained and postponed the conclusion to this week. I'm going out on a limb and predicting at least one 20 car start pileup before the year is out.

Western New York is a joke for racing.
EDIT: Let me rephrase that. The dirt tracks in that area aren't doing too-too bad, but the asphalt tracks couldn't lure a Doberman out of a snowstorm with a steak.

Didnt you get banned from raceny? I remembered the name. I agree with you. Ralph Galluzi and Bennett are murderers. I cant run my street stock at DTRP this year cuz it costs freaking ridiculous amount of money to run in that class now. Ralph is outpricing everybody. Ransomville and all the other dirt tracks aint doing too bad though!

That was me, and you hit the nail on the head. They let the latemodels go without so much as a whimper (save for that utterly stupid LAMOT bullshit that is the second coming of NASCAR itself), so why the hell would you trust them with anything else? When you have utter idiots like that Holland homer in charge of things, your community has no chance in hell of success.

Why do you think Im trying to sell my street stock and try and get into those Legends cars? Those you can take anywhere and race anytime. Not too pricey either.

Exactly. Nothing wrong with cutting costs, but when you lose your heads while doing so (although a couple of them really didn't have a head to lose to begin with, and I'm sure you can figure out who I'm talking about), is it really worth it?

I'll be at Bluegrass Speedway tonight. Might be the only race there I get to this year. I wish my work schedule was a bit more cooperative. The next time I'm job hunting, something that isn't second shift or weekends will be a priority.

This happened during the street stock division heat race tonight at Bluegrass Speedway. I don't have the names for the guys in the cars yet,but thankfully everyone was uninjured. The red flag was out for 40 minutes to clean the mess up. Track personnel had the fire extinguished the first time when it flared up again(thanks to fuel running down the banking). The heat from the flames caused both front tires to pop as well. Track crews used up several fire extinguishers trying to stop the blaze, but the Bardstown Fire Department was called to the track to assist in putting the fire out. Finally the car was dragged into the pit entrance onto level ground, where the flames continued briefly before finally being brought under control.
