Seriously? Was it really necessary for a cop to draw his gun on a racing driver? Someone's going to get killed, and I'd bet anything someone's going to get killed at that cesspool Bowman Gray Stadium. |

I blame the fact my YouTube subscriptions is loaded every weekend with racing from like 50 tracks or series. Usually do it to kill time out of boredom. - Super DIRTcar Series Big Block Modified highlights from Merrittville (August 6th) Super DIRTcar Series Big Block Modified highlights from Ransomville (August 7th) - next Monday's Battle at Berlin 251 has been canceled due to a low car count on the preliminary entry list http://www.shorttrackscene.com/2018/08/ ... erlin-251/ |

Greenville-Pickens is toying with a conversion to dirt on social media. https://www.facebook.com/GPSpeedway/pos ... 0064684981 - If they do, I just hope they don't go the way of running 8 divisions every single night with 6 of them being street stocks (that could be merged with 2 other divisions) like every other track in the Carolinas. Fans go to big shows, usually to see the big cars (i.e. Sprint Cars, Super Late Models, Midgets, Big Block Mods), not the 5 supporting classes that only have a handful of cars (such as Thunder Bomber, Renegade, Bomber, FWD's etc.). Not a coincidence that you don't see the Outlaws running at tracks with more than 1 or 2 support divisions during their shows. Between the amount of classes most tracks run here, or the lack of safety standards that some tracks continue to run with (i.e. no ambulances & safety crews, or the appearance of a ambulance on site but it's actually not equipped and broken down, or use of a personal vehicle as a ambulance), some tracks make it real easy for some fans / crew members / drivers to not support it. |

^^ Sitterly has been bad fast again this year. Classic could be good. Looked like a pretty good car count. Almost went to Oswego for my birthday but didn't feel like sitting through twin 20 lappers for the small blocks. Will be there for Classic Sunday this year for the first time in a couple years since Indycar isn't at The Glen. Went to Fonda instead where a rash of red fever broke out. No fewer than 5 red flags on the night. One street stock flip, one modified pileup, one pro stock pileup (tore our car all to shit), one modified flip and a sportsman flip. All drivers were OK. Sportsman flip was nasty. Car is junk as it bent the bottom frame rails. A lot of crazy moves and guys driving way above their heads. "Tacky track hero's" as my buddy Joe said. |

^^ Dunno how I feel about that. SDS race Fonda "The Jack" tentatively rescheduled for Friday, Sept. 21... Which is the day before another SDS race at Fonda so it basically means back to back 100 lappers at the same track. Hopin' to make that one. The Saturday Sept. 22 race I won't be at as the wife is taking me to Lincoln for the The Dirt Classic. |

Five Mile Point ended up postponing the races that were scheduled for tomorrow night due to the flooding around the Twin Tiers (starting to flood around the usual flood prone areas that are along the Susquehanna) - Highlights from this past weekend: Spoiler: |

A question from someone who knows nothing about short-track culture - is this sort of shit normal in that sort of racing, or is it just a 'unique' venue? |

gkmotorsport wrote: A question from someone who knows nothing about short-track culture - is this sort of shit normal in that sort of racing, or is it just a 'unique' venue? It honestly depends on the track, the officials, the sanctioning bodies, and if there's any action after a incident like this. In the case of Bowman Gray, with a mix of a bullring where tempers can flare instantly, and little to no action by the officials or the sanctioning body, it tends to make it common. NASCAR can be equally blamed as the sanctioning body & insurance provider for the track. If they wanted to clean up their image and the image of their weekly tracks (with Bowman Gray being their #1 weekly sanctioned track, in terms of the first track ever sanctioned & in terms of fan attendance), they easily could by enforcing penalties Too bad that their standards have severely dropped in the past 15 years as it seems like there is no action for dirty driving & weaponized use of a race car anymore in the big leagues. Oh, and of course using said incidents for promotional reels for upcoming races. Hell I recall pit lane penalties for the slightest whiff of bumper tag in the early 2000's. There's many tracks where this is common, and there's many tracks where they pride themselves in a clean racing product & a proper / strict racing control against anyone attempting such a act. Hell, I've seen some intentional incidents in Legend Cars and go-karts so it doesn't help that some are taught to race extremely dirty at such a young age. |

SPEED SPORT has confirmed that the Copper World Classic will return to ISM Raceway with a mid-week show from January 13-16. The race will feature NASCAR's K&N Pro Series in a combination event for both East & West tours, USAC Silver Crown Champ Cars, non-wing pavement sprint cars, and Late Models (rules package is unclear if it would be Super LM's or Pro LM's). https://speedsport.com/sprints-midgets/ ... m-raceway/ |
