So apparently Tri-City Speedway had a runaway tractor incident last week. Driver of the tractor either slipped or got bumped off, and was injured in the accident.

glad to hear that driver was alright, could of been alot worse. Although I prefer tracks without walls, River Cities needs some more runoff with that setup.

I'm glad that there is going to be racing returned to I-70. It's been tough seeing that track wasting away in recent years, so I'm happy that track is getting a new lease on life. I kind of wish it was still going to be paved since outside of I-44 Speedway, I can't think of another paved short track in the state of Missouri.

Sounds like the Lucas Oil LM portions of the Silver Dollar Nationals had some great racing last weekend. Dirt on DIRT posted video of Thursday's finish in the A-main between Bloomquist & Davenport on Facebook

This past Saturday I went to the Dirt oval at Route 66 for their monthly tournament of destruction team demolition derby. Before the final though they had a 15 lap charity police car race where local law enforcement had the chance to race in caged decommissioned police cars. Most of the field was made up of old Crown Vic's and 24 started. What was most impressive though was that they let the cops race on the lightning quick 3/8 mi track. The barriers were in place for the demo derby stuff which is on the front stretch so some were moved temporarily to "safely" utilize the big track.

Well wouldn't you know it about 10 laps into the feature, someone got crossed up under the flag stand and ended up sliding drivers door first at I'd say 60-70 mph into the jersey barriers that still sat 90 degrees to the track in the near infield. I was convinced I saw someone get seriously injured or even worse but as luck would have it, the front end of the clipped a large tractor tire and it was enough the turn the car and not hit flush to the not very well protected driver. After a few tense moments, the guy climbed out of the car with assistance. The charity race was ended right on the spot and the leader was given the win. I can't find any footage of the accident or race online but from this photo, you can see how stupid the barrier setup was. The police car parked to the left was not involved in the accident.

Can't say I'm surprised with that layout. They were restricted some after the oval track was downsized to a 3/8th mile from a 1/2 mile. I believe there is some TV coverage of those demo derbies on MavTV (On The Edge - which came back from the dead last year)

CARS Tour has their annual throwback race at Hickory this Saturday. SPEED SPORT has been revealing most of the special paint schemes in conjunction with the series. The LMSC portion will be broadcast on MavTV / Speed Sport later this fall (race will be live on CARS Tour TV).
