Sounds like an interesting night to say the least.

They couldn't get some back-up lighting set up to run the races? I remember a light pole being taken down at Fonda before and they brought in a heavy rescue truck to set up it's spot light. Had a sprint car go through a light pole at the Valley (canceled tonight damnit) and they managed to repair it... 4 or 5 hours later...

I'll be at Thunderhill Raceway tonight in Kyle, Texas. The Race lineup looks like this:

Races:
1. Mini Stocks-15 Laps
2. Thunder Stocks-20 Laps
3. Dwarf Cars-20 Laps
4. Bandoleros-20 Laps
5. Grand Stocks-20 Laps
6. TSRS Allison Legacys-25 Laps
7. TSRS Late Models-50 Laps
8. ASA A-Line Super Stocks-25 Laps
9. NasKarts-27 Laps
10. SportMods-15 Laps

They are trying out their new speedier race format tonight. With all qualifying, no heats, earlier feature starts, and shorter feature races to try to get the fans out before midnight.

It really had nothing to do with the lighting, the lights on the pole actually were still working anyway. The problem was that the pole was broken and could very easily fall down which could have taken the live power lines down on to the track or in to spectators.

The racing at Langley Speedway on May 7th really wasn't the best I've ever seen, however there was some good racing that occured. The Late Model race went the entire 100 laps caution free and didn't see a single lead change. This was the third Late Model race in a row that had a 20 car field, better even than the 18 car fields South Boston Speedway has had the past couple of races. There would have been 21 cars starting the feature race had Kevin Cunningham not destroyed his car in qualifying. I did not see how the crash started, but he hit the Turn 3 wall incredibly hard, knocking the right front tire and suspension completely off the car. The car slid around the track to the frontstretch where it then caught fire. Once it stopped at the end of the frontstretch, various crew members and track officials ran to the car, pulled Kevin out, and put the fire out within a few seconds. Kevin appeared to be O.K. as he was walking around the car surveying the damage a few minutes later. The Modified race was decent but was hurt by a low car count of only nine. The Legends division put on a pretty good show with Joe Hendricks, Rette Causey, and couple other drivers getting together early in the race, but Causey rallied back to second place and challenged the leader Brad Hancock in the final laps. The Super Trucks saw some early racing for the lead and a couple spins and crashes but overall Robbie Davis ran away with the win. the UCAR division had the lowest car count I've seen since I started going to Langley two years ago with only 18 cars. The Final race of the night was the Pro Six race which also suffered from a low car count, two cars went 10 laps but managed to put on a decent show with Lindsay Bryant punting Matt Mullins in turn 3 but Mullins ran her down on the final lap, Bryant managed to hang on to the win by half a car length.

Are the Langley Supertrucks based off actual truck chassis, or are they just truck bodies on a fabricated frame like the ARCA Trucks?

They're pretty much just stock 4 cylinder trucks

More like begging for people to show up. Maybe there'll be more LAMOT cars than the other classes combined.

Sounds like DTRP wants to screw the pooch again as well this year. Their LM show should be hilarious, too bad I can't make - Oh, heck, I can't say that with a straight face.

Unfortunately they might have to. There were still plenty around when they got the bright idea that the LMs were 'dying', so it looks like they've made it so. If DTRP/Holland weren't run by retards, the LMs might still have a chance.

Speaking of retards, the fine folks at ASA have done their best to kill that series. Mandatory engine/body changes + A failure to pay points fund for 2009 + Shoddy marketing = Going from 22-28 regular cars in 2009 to 9 cars at Rockingham in 2010.

I think what killed the LM's were the amount of rule changes and how they differed from track to track. If they had just had one set of rules for all the tracks, then it might be doing a bit better LM wise.

That's something that could've been fixed over a 3-5 year period with money (points and race purse), promotion amongst the races and amongst the fans.

Everyone but the track owners knew that.

ASA,the sanctioning body still exists: www.asaracing.com

What ceased to exist in 2004 was ASA's National Tour, probably their biggest series. I do miss the old ASA from the mid-late 90s,when they started running larger tracks and messed with the appearance of the cars(numbers on the quarter panels),I lost interest.
