How about a 1 mile oval with 25 degrees of banking, just like Rockingham once had?

Found this about TMS and enjoyed reading it. It mentions IRL driver Tony Stewart's comments vs what the NASCAR guys are thinking.

TMS has been a joke since the day it was built - took races away from North Wilkesboro and Rockingham and it one of the most boring races of the year. The track design is broken as well.

I don't think it's just a "youth of today" thing; like it or not, everyone has more distractions to fill their time, and it's hard to be successful with something that demands people give up a whole afternoon every week. There are two likely ways this can go as I see it: change nothing and see the sport slowly drop from relevance until change is forced by lack of revenue or things just fall apart, or try updating aspects of the sport to suit a modern audience and take a chance that it will improve the sport's fortunes. I know this is a slippery slope and the worst changes in the past decade have been made under this reasoning, but race length is something that inevitably has to change IMO.

Yeah I probably unfairly singled out the youth of today when it's not really them, it's everybody, we have instant access to entertainment easily available with we get bored with the 4 hour race.

Even if it was 100% a "youth of today" problem (which we're all agreeing it isn't ;) ) NASCAR would be suicidal to ignore their needs and carry on acting as if it was still 1969, that's one way to neglect your franchise into an early grave.

Races like the Aero Push 500 at Fontana could probably benefit from shorter heat races anyway, it's not like they can get much worse.

NASCAR needs more short tracks, go dirt as well.

Get rid of the boring 1.5 mile cookie cutters.

...so all the tracks NASCAR essentially owns? :flag:

And yet NASCAR owns Iowa and it just sits as a lower series track only....

Eliminate a factor that helped him? Seems unlikely.

Nah, he'll let Fox News and Brietbart do as they wish. They're the masters of fake news.

That's a bogus thing to say too, though. Fox News and Breitbart (along with pretty much all cable news and many other major outlets) are just crappy, shitty news and propaganda in their own ways. That's not good but it's not fake news, which is the completely and intentionally fictional stuff made up for sharing on social media purely to inflame the craziest passions of the fringe.

You genuinely misunderstand what's going on and this attitude won't serve you well.

Do not confuse concern for anger. The "suck it, you lost" attitude really isn't a good one when we're talking about the future of our country. It's good for sports, not for this.

This is why I refuse to engage in political or religious debates. Everyone has their opinion and nothing said will change ones perspective of how they view things.
