The internets are super pumped and happy about these lights....idk man.

I'm sorry, but haven't we gotten tired of this by now? There are too many night races. M'ville can say it is just an insurance policy for now, but there is no way you would invest that much money into something and not use it. The only way I would be excited about a night race at Martinsville is if they gave the fans glow in the dark hot dog wrappers.

And for people who "just want to see what it looks like under the lights," check out that modified race they ran at night there. Sure, the lights levels were low, but you get the idea.

I'm ok with it as long as it stays just being an insurance policy.

Like a few have already said on the web, this is shaping up to take over the Bristol night race before they fucked it up. I get the whole day race, slip slide element but Marty is slip slidey enough as it is and short track racing is better under the lights imho.

Not sure they aren't already going to F up Martinsville with the added "2nd groove".

Martinsville said they aren't doing it. They tried it at the test and said no.

I approve of any track with a second date having a night race as long as they have a day race.
Richmond needs a day race.

Europeans are even less happy about the sudden proliferation of night races

We like NASCAR and sleep, not having to choose.

DVR? Its what I do during football season. Football during the day, watch the race late afternoon/evening.

I watch the night races live, they help me to get off to sleep.

I do record them but there's something not quite the same watching a recorded race live even if you don't know the result

If it's looking like a dull one the temptation to hit the FFWD button is sometimes impossible to resist :whistling:
(Which obv doesn't help tolerate boring live races next time around :p )

I hope it stays as that for the Cup races. It would be cool for a summer time race with another series though (short track related or if Xfinity ever runs there again)

As long as it's just an insurance policy, I'm fine with lights at Martinsville. I wouldn't be opposed to the lights being used for another series at Martinsville though, like Xfinity, K&N East or the Modifieds.

Fourth* official race under the lights at Martinsville will be next year's ValleyStar Credit Union 300 for the Late Model Stocks
(first for the new LED system)

Thank God. They really need to at least cut them out of the Chase races.

Yeaa, Larry Mac said just that yesterday. They should at least be banned from the chase races.

Well, it's promising. I don't mind when they run Daytona, Charlotte and perhaps 2-3 other races a season.

The spin is laughable though:

As the sport has evolved one of the great things is we’ve got more of a fan following in the Xfinity and Camping World Truck Series.

There's less of a fan following in Xfinity because most of the competing drivers are buried mid-pack.

There's what?

Give me a break. I've never found myself less interested in either series. I remember when both series had its own identity. There was LaJoie and Buckshot among others in the Busch series, and there was Hornaday vs. Sprague in the Truck series, not to mention the fact the series had its own schedule at places like Myrtle Beach, South Boston, I-70 and Tucson. Busch and Truck races used to be appointment television. The characters in both series used to be just as interesting as those in the Winston Cup, and the tracks produced racing as great, too. Now I couldn't give two shits because I'm either watching Georgia getting its ass kicked by Vanderbilt or spending a beautiful Saturday with my son at the zoo or at the park not far from home. That's some ridiculous spin from NASCAR.
