I think the sideskirts have to be hindering the handling in dirty air when inside another car the same as having the front sealed off does when behind a car. You need to allow air to pass under the car basically otherwise in clean air, it's an advantage. And in the case of the sideskirt, it's a an advantage if you're the outside car.

I never thought I'd be looking forward to a race at Michigan.

This year's package had a slightly wider radiator pan than the one they used at Darlington last year. The teams probably clawed a little bit back in other areas as well. But this latest change should see them running less downforce than the package tested last year.

If the results are good at Michigan and Kansas, is it possible to see this package for the rest of the season? Or is it more of a test for 2017?

It's a test for 2017. Just like they did last year for 2016.

That's one thing I don't like.. when you have a better solution in hand which has been tested in actual competition, why not implement it fulltime immediately? It's like testing a new recipe of pie, sales go up yet you hold it off for months and keep producing new stock using the old recipe.

I guess their reason is that teams have spent a lot of R&D on finding setups for the current package but surely not all of it will go to waste.

Man, Jeb is like... sponsor poison, or something. He's had some pretty shitty luck on that side of things.

Jeb Brought the J Streicher sponsorship with him to the #43 team. So I guess he kind of shot himself in the foot by doing so.

Thorsport Racing's shop caught fire last night/early this morning. Hearing it was on the back side of the building, fire crews didn't go into the building, fearing the roof would collapse.

Here is a newspaper article about the fire.

http://www.sanduskyregister.com/Fire-and-EMS/2016/06/13/Overnight-fire-at-ThorSport-Racing.html?ci=breaking&lp=1

It doesn't sound like any of their efforts this weekend at Iowa will be affected. Other teams, including those from competing manufacturers have offered their support to Thorsport.

NBC is reporting that firefighters were able to save 12 of the teams trucks. They pushed the trucks that weren't in an area threatened by the fire out of the building to safety. 3 trucks were destroyed and another truck is underwater due to the water used to fight the fire.

Meanwhile, the team is working out of their haulers in a supermarket parking lot.

Matt Tifft will be missing this weekend's events in Iowa due to a problem with one of his discs in his back. German Quiroga will be back in the #11 in the Truck Race and Sam Hornish Jr. will drive the #18 in the Xfinity event.

Did anyone watch the K & N West race from Colorado this evening? Damn great race for the win between Chris Eggleston and Todd Gilliland! Aggressive, but clean short track racing at its best.
