2 1/2" spoiler? That's insane. I just don't understand why they haven't done anything to the side skirts yet. These things are still pinned/sealed to the ground.

Oh, should be much less. The current package (as far as spoiler measurements are concerned) is basically what they ran at Darlington and Kentucky last year. So, they're taking another inch from that.

It would be good to remove downforce as far as handling is concerned, but I doubt the side-skirts cause much dirty air. Just sealing a car off to the ground helps itself without hurting the trailing cars as much as a big spoiler. So I guess cutting down the spoiler is a more immediate way to reduce downforce AND dirty air at the same time.
