I would be okay with shorter races, if the tracks would add more support races. While some tracks like Loudon and Sonoma have a decent support card, alot of tracks have axed their support races across the weekend. Granted some can't do much due to size of track or pit space.

As a example though, 10 years ago Charlotte would have 2 to 4 support races for the All Star Race alone, now there is none.

I've been going through the latest rounds of rumors..and with the charter system in effect...im still struggling to come up with 40 cars for Daytona. Theres 34 full time cars confirmed, if BK brings 2 cars thats 36, and Mikey would bring it to 37.

Front Row are being vague as well. I'd be very surprised if they field 3 cars again.

That number already takes into account Front Row rumors. Which are right now that the 35 is gone, and the 38 may very well not run either. Totally depending on a big sponsorship coming through. I heard a rumor they sold the 38's charter already but im not sure if thats true.

Kentucky is getting a makeover.

I wonder how much different the banking will be in turns 1 and 2 and turns 3 and 4. This might be an interesting change.

Rumors are that Landon Cassill is headed to the #38 for Front Row Motorsports.

Pockrass said on Twitter that 1 and 2 will be more narrow, reduced from 74 to 56 feet and banking increased from 14 to 17 degrees.

Quote:
RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) -
Richmond International Raceway will remove its entire backstretch of stands prior to the April race weekend. The project will drop capacity from about 75,000 to approximately 60,000 seats and will be completed by late February or early March.

This is phase two of the track's plan. In October of 2013, the venue removed its Henrico Tower, a portion of backstretch seating.

RIR is also changing prices for seats on Turn 2, in order to to accommodate racing fans who purchased the backstretch seat tickets. Those Turn 2 seats will now cost $35, the cost of the seats the venue will be removing.

It's because the racing is so good that people are afraid to see it in person, thus reducing everything else they see in their lives to joyless drudgery.

New banking for both ends of the track or just T1 & T2?

I think the width was the original plan, when they first did the RV deck and moved the wall, the white line was a groove up which gave a wider apron, but because it was just a line, the drivers ignored it and just used it as track, so they quickly changed it to the single apron it had (you could always see the thick white line in the corner where the track edge was supposed to be), as for the banking, I wonder if they'll just cut out the existing track to increase the banking (and thus make a transition to the new apron) like Kansas did when they did their track instead of physically increasing the banking by raising the track.

Asymmetrical tracks are the best. I am a fan of this change.

He said the whole track will be paved but the changes will be to just 1 and 2. I will say, it could be interesting.

Cookie cutter Darlington?

I like going for unique

That is one way to bring the driver element back into the fold: you can only possibly make the car perfect at one end of the track.

I dunno.. usually it results in one driver/team hitting the perfect balance for each end of the track and dominating. See Pocono. But I still like the uniqueness.

Probably the first method as that would give them the much needed wider pit exit road too and I imagine it'd be easier/cheaper than raising the track.
