This vicious cycle Nascar has put itself in the last few years is hilarious. First they cut the size of the starting fields to mask the car count problem, then when new, under funded teams try to come into Nascar, they're the ones getting sent home and lose their funding. The weak get weaker and the strong get stronger.

How the fuck do two teams finishing Top-10 in points not automatically get locked in?

As much as it is a result of Nascar's shittyness it still makes me marvel to see the nascar media panicking over a drop in car count below 4 cars when most other series in the world struggle to attract half that. :p

Still, less cars are never a good thing. Nascar sucks

It's not, it's better for NASCAR themselves because they are able to save some money with this new system if the rumor about the lower race payouts is correct. I just hope it doesn't make it to IndyCar Leaders Circle program levels of bad (aka $15k to $35k to win 1 race, not counting the base payout for token teams).

because they only counted full time teams from the 2013 season.

Why wouldn't the 40 swap points with the 33 for a charter spot, then?

RCR runs the #33 for part of the season, and I am sure they would want to have their drivers (Ty Dillon etc.) locked in the race.

Right, but at the end of the day it's still Joe Falk's name on the entry blank for the races that RCR uses the 33, isnt it?

unless it's changed (thought I heard a rumor of RCR getting the points back), it should be Falk's name.

Less cars is good, hopefully less races is the next step.

Shorter races is something we don't bring up often. I sure am for it.

I agree. Shorten some of the races. Other than the Daytona 500, Coke 600 and Southern 500, every race should no more than 400 miles. Even Short tracks should go to 300-400 laps MAX.

Even 400 is too long and monotonous compared to all other motorports. 300 miles (or laps, as the case may be) is perfect for most races. And 250 and 200 for NXS and trooks respectively.

Basically target a 2 hour window with average caution periods for each taken into account.
