Quite sad to hear about Buddy Baker's passing, but this brought a smile to my face.

"That's something that nobody can ever take away from you." Damn straight, Buddy... Rest in Peace.

I'm also fairly sure that the spectacled interviewer at the end - who looks nothing like Jack Arute - is indeed Jack Arute. Sure as hell sounds like him, anyway.

Speaking of Buddy setting records: the fastest Daytona 500 ever, a record still standing after 35 years.

Buddy telling stories, another thing he enjoyed (his book is worth reading).

Not really one of the "classic" Bristol night race finishes, but still a pretty damn good race was the 1993 Bud 500. One of two times I can remember where the winner all but passed out in victory lane:

Ricky Rudd at Martinsville in 1998 being the other.

What about Kyle Petty at Dover in 1995?

I remember him winning that race but didn't know he was gassed afterwards.

Not NASCAR but Jordan St. Amant uploaded some more ASA races, last 2 being 1998 @ Orange County and 2002 @ Minnesota State Fair.

Cartman posted this hilarious rumor on Jeff's Historic Stock Car Forum a few weeks ago.

Herk and Billy Carter would have been great for NASCAR - at the very least, fun as hell. What year was this, Cartman?

Likely 1977, assuming it's from Carter's "Billy Beer" height of relevancy. All I know is a Billy Beer-sponsored team owned by the president's Hee Haw-esque bumpkin brother would've been fucking tast.

So, apparently the 1986 Daytona 500 was broadcast in Japan (!)... no crazy commentary though, even when the big one strikes:

With Talladega this weekend, here's this hot July afternoon from 1995.

And here's the inaugural Truck race at Talladega from 2006.

In tribute to the recent passing of Ron Bouchard:

Full broadcast, in which the live feed infamously dies with a few laps to go, leaving the thrilling finish to be conveyed by "radio call": https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SDQBLId9ldo
