Yeah, and he delivered until the he got to the different style COT. That helped for his hype to grow as well. Larson is not winning, but he is driving very well in cup for his first year, very well. And the way he won Fontana, justify any hype he may have got. He did beat the Cup regular like we wanted to see them beat for a very very long time. And both victories Elliot do not arrive at the feet of that achievement.

Still, they both are real deal and will make some great accomplishments in the Cup future for sure.

I guess it's all in how much you actually like his personality and driving style - if you don't, you inherently think "GOD WOULD EVERYONE JUST SHUT UP, ALREADY", but if you do, you think "wow, people really need to step up and take notice of this guy".

It happened with me personally with a few drivers over the years, like Joey Logano and even Dale Earnhardt Jr. Back in the late 90's, people just wouldn't stop talking about Junior because of his name, his potential, etc (this is one of the reasons Ken Squier got on my shitlist, aside from just misspeaking on a regular basis)... meanwhile, some other guy by the name of Matt Kenseth was doing just as fantastic by his own merit, but not really getting as much attention.

Again, I guess it's all just a personal thing. Us NASCAR fans are rarely the type to take *all* facts under consideration when we've already made our minds up about a guy.

For a son of another sucessfull driver, Jr is really good, compared to others. No wonder they`ve got excited.

Anyway, the first time I saw Larson was last year, and the same for Elliot. I like them both, just as I like almost any driver on the field. I just like to see good racing, and the history being written, most of the time.

Well, since I started watching the ones I really liked to see winning the champ we`re Montoya, Mark Martin and Jeff Gordon. No wonder I like everyone else. I`d also love to see Jr winning more, just because of all the pressure for it to happen.

Hype is just something to get casual fans interested, as though they might be missing out on something.
It really means very little in the grand scheme of things.

I never was a huge fan, but there were a few instances through the years that proved he was quite the wheelman. That save at Dega a couple years ago was massive tast, and he came back to win the thing. I wouldn't call myself a *fan* for sure, but I get why people like him, even though he's not the most interesting personality. He is funny as hell on Twitter at times, though. haha

"That cat can ball, man......."

This is all probably better suited for the Random Discussion Thread, but meh. ;)

I am kind of dry and boring myself so I like Matt. He can wheel with the absolute best the sport has ever seen but possesses genuine humility and doesn't ever feel the need to pull his cock out and slap everyone in the face with it like say Kryle does.

IMO, Matt's much more tolerable and likeable since he left Roush.
