What nascar needs badly is a complete reorganisation of the calendar, starting with a reduction in races to 30. Also getting rid of the Chase and forcing the tv broadcast to show the damn debris.

I agree a large schedule shake-up is in order. Take away 2nd dates from most tracks that have them and give them to new tracks like Iowa or Circuit of the Americas.

The following tracks should have 2 dates: Daytona, Talladega, Martinsville, Atlanta, Charlotte, Richmond, Phoenix, Bristol (only if changes are made)

Rest of the tracks one date only, 4 road courses per season. Get rid of Indianapolis, Southern 500 to Labor Day, Atlanta as the finale.

Wow I didn't even realize Danica was racing this weekend in Cup. No hype at all? :p

She looks painfully slow in practice... 46th of 46 and still 2mph off the pace.

By the way, they mentioned that when NASCAR took a few engines to their R&D center for additional inspection after the Michigan race last week, Kahne's was one of them and it ended up blowing up on the dyno. So that was nearly four Hendrick engine failures during the race.

Dover gets two.

Darlington gets two

Atlanta gets one

Pocono gets two but not within the short space of time like seems to happen atm.
Just as one race is over its almost time to go back there again, never understood that tbh.

I can't tell if members of the mainstream portion of the NASCAR media are all truly indifferent to the Bristol changes or if they're just a bunch of nutless pussies afraid to call certain fans on their bullshit. Even a few minutes ago Kyle Petty sort of ironically made a half jab but still clearly didn't want to just lay it out and say what he felt.

What did he say?

I didn't catch what they were talking about before but I heard him jump in and say something to the effect of, "but side-by-side racing isn't what they want. They don't like that. So maybe there should be one and a half grooves instead of two or three."

Again I'm paraphrasing, but that was the gist of what he said.

They're told what agenda to back before the show ever goes near the air....

The mantra now is "Present the fans who are against the new Bristol as crash hungry maniacs out for sum fatalz and those in favour of the changes as reasonable fans who enjoy side by side racing with no crashes, ignoring how boring the racing has become, because NASCAR's word is law and must not be questioned"

You'd need someone independent not sucking on NASCAR's teat to prevent the true view of the fans, but it's not going to happen this weekend...

Bayne just won the Nationwide pole. Hell of a return to the series.

Speaking of which, they announced this morning that he will be running a full Nationwide schedule in 2013 in addition to his part-time Cup schedule with the Wood Brothers.

Since the person that runs NASCAR49 sucks at working out what GMT is, I'll have to ask here, how long until nationwide?

That site said it should've started 20 mins ago

*Points to where I said it's pissing down*

So no idea.

Besides, GMT is an hour behind BST.

The race was due to start 12.43 BST, pre-race show is on now, sun is out but I can't tell if it's still raining or not.
