I just caught the finish. This was the first Talladega Cup race in a while that didn't result in absolute mayhem. It was also an entertaining finish between Elliott and Blaney. I thought Blaney was going to be able to hold him off.

Your presence is requested in every Plate race, it keeps everybody safe :whistling:

20 years ago, the fall Dega race went big-one free, this race felt a lot like that tbh

Gawd, I'm old.

It was a clean race.

It was good that it was a clean race.

It was not a good race.

Are wrecks at regular intervals essential for a good NASCAR race?

Not a whinge, a legit question.

It breaks up the monotony at least. As long as they aren't stupid crashes or result in injury, of course.

Given their superspeedway ads are filled with "everyone throw their brain out the window and kill each other" crashes, I think we know NASCAR's stance.

Wrecks are used by NASCAR in promotion videos and to attract casual fans.

If there are 2 races - one is single file against the wall and clean finish and the other has a 30 car pileup - which one will NASCAR use?

I probably was biased about the race itself. As I normally waits for a torrent, and watch it paying a lot of attention, this time I just saw it live in a very casual way. Probably still gonna rewatch this making my tab, but first I gotta do Texas. At least this year I'm avoiding a burn-out.

Also making the tab for out iRacing League, this taking priority over everything else. And also did some for xFinity. Maybe still getting burned out after all.....

the problem are the stages, throw that away and some wrecks could be welcome. Of course, if it isn't triggered by dumb blocking

The thing is, if wrecks are an important factor in a NASCAR race being considered good no matter how the actual racing is, then they were right to introduce stages. I consider them dumb, but if you want a stacked-up field and the potential for wrecks they serve their purpose there.

I prefer an exciting race regardless of how many wrecks there are in it.

I’ve just gotten so bored with SS racing over the last 4-5 seasons that, for those particular races, the wrecks are really the only thing that holds my interest.
