"Überschlag!"

Reminds me of a skype convo I had with two germans during the '07 Daytona 500. You know who you are :p

I had picked David to have a good race, but he had an even better one. Great stuff.

Looking at the replays, David Gilliland was very lucky to not have been involved in that because Clint Bowyer spun up the track right in front of him. How different would the finish have been if either Bowyer's or Gilliand's cars were 1 foot different frorm what they were at that very moment?

A bit late to the party, but a big round of applause to the wives and girlfriends who are still with us after the longest, rainiest weekend we've ever cared so much about.

I had to compromise one of the days of the weekend for the girlfriend. I choose saturday. I think i made the right choice by watching on sunday, IndyCar race included.

I DVR'ed the race, caught up around the rain delay, set more recording time, took care of some errands with the wife, came back, continued from DVR.

Not having to sleep next to you because you passed out drunk on the couch? :p

My fiance sat with me during the entire thing even though her driver (Kyle) had wrecked 48 hours prior to the finish. I then went to the bar for Cinco de Mayo. She stayed home. I think she had enough of me at that point.

Man, just watched the completed race of Nationwide, I've just seen the wreck and the finish. But never saw that the win went to Regan. What a bullshit.

I love Nascar, and I understand a lot of things that they do trying to make the sport better and sometimes it just fuck everything up because they were just following what it was the supposed right thing to do.

Not this time. This is the biggest fuck up ever. The best finish at Dega EVER, and it's given away to someone else. Way to go.

The rulebook should change. As for there's a wreck near the finish, the people who are really ahead can race to the end for the win. It should be just a little hard to judge who are cleared of the wreck, but we got to find a way to do it. It would be a nobrainer in the NNS race anyway.

Anyway, even with the rulebook. They SHOULD and GOTTA have waited for the end of the race to the yellow to come out. Or at least give the victory to Kahne. Change that rulebook folks.

Best finish ever, ruined out by silly rules.

Knee jerk to the crash at Daytona where they didn't throw the yellow immediately. When the first car went around, with the rest of the field coming, they wanted to throw the yellow to try to not have a complete disaster in the tri-oval. It wound up happening anyway, but that was their reasoning I bet.

Either it's all bets off on the last lap, or it's not. Gotta make a decision and stick with it.

Simple fix: If there's a crash going on behind the leaders (turn 3, tri-oval, etc...) on the last lap coming to the checkered; the leaders race back to the line.

Be it 2 or 10 cars racing for the lead and they're clear of the danger; throw the yellow for those involved but let the leaders race back.

Those sort of detailed distinctions are useless when everything happens in a matter of seconds and everyone's in a tight pack, nobody's gonna lift coming to the checkers unless they know positions are frozen or that they'll get a penalty.

IMO they never should have introduced the freeze the field BS as these sort of arguments will never go away. I don't think the slight gain in safety is worth the confusion and questions over the legitimacy of results.

They had to get rid of it (fuck you, Robby), but, yeah, the subjectivity thereof is pretty stupid. They could have said "freeze the field the instant the caution comes out" and be done with it insetaf of the fluff surrounding it and the subjectivity of when the caution comes out relative to the positioning of the cars.

Go back to the last completed lap. Done. Official lead changes only count at the line, if they haven't got back to the line when the yellow comes out then it should go back to the last lap.

Like how some forms of motorsport has outside the US?

That makes way too much sense.
