Great racing tonight, very good battle at the end, and lot's of strategy options that could have worked through the all-star event, I wasn't confused at all. Shame they didn't thought about a rule for putting lapped cars back on the lead lap for the last segment, that was a big loophole for this system. Johnson idea still would work if it was up to last year. Just no tyre fall-off those days, kudos for trying, he wouldn't have made it otherwise anyway. Great win for Logano, at least something he is savaging after last's years lost title.

On paper, it was a good idea. I agree on the strategy and racing part. Problem is that once Kenseth was penalized a lap for pitting under caution, that's where everyone went "lolwtf is going on".

overall I thought the racing product itself was good on the restarts and when tires actually started to fall off. Hope this means some good racing next week for the 600 too

The racing was very good. It was possible to follow another car closely in the corners and to run side by side, without the car on the bottom getting stupidly loose. But this was a trial package with even less downforce (a lot of the sideforce was gone, I think). It probably won't be quite so good when we go back to the normal package for the 600.

I didn't realise there were so many rule changes for this year's race, so I had little idea what was going on at times.

On an individual car vs. car on track battle basis, the racing was awesome. Unfortunately Nascar once again out Nascar'd itself by making the actual race some of the dumbest shit ever. The cars getting stuck a lap down, the pit rules that didn't really prove anything, counting caution flag laps, segment winners meaning absolutely nothing towards jackshit, Kenseth getting screwed, I mean, if all that bullshit went away and they just LET EM RACE, we might not have to make these posts anymore.

I thought I remember seeing somewhere that the rear toe rule was to stay in effect after the All Star?

I think the rear toe rule was just for the All Star, unless they've changed their minds. They removed some fans from the cars which were generating downforce, and that will continue for the rest of the season, but I don't know which of the changes had the biggest effect.

One that's staying is the one that prevents them from using brake/tire cooling fans to remove air from the car floor.
