I like monitors around road / street courses. Or ovals big enough that you can't see the whole track.

It does seem rather pointless on an oval.

Re: NAPA, the way the "divorce" announcement from MWR is worded is the interesting part, reading between the lines it says it's MWR they're pissed with, and that if Martin Truex moved to another team, they'd happily follow him. I saw a rumour he'd be in a 4th JGR(?) car with NAPA sponsorship next year.

Hendrick Motorsports announced that Valvoline will be a major sponsor on all 4 cars starting next year.

That's kinda big! For the longest time, it was Roush\Valvoline vs. Hendrick\Quaker State. I know Valvoline used to be with the team before '96, but this is quite the change.

I rather liked the Quaker State schemes on the 5. Oh well.

Steve Byrnes will take a medical leave of absence for the rest of 2013, effective immediately (host of Racehub if you don't know).

I saw that all over Twitter yesterday. I wonder what it is? Fox Sports tweeted it wouldn't release anymore info without permission from the family

2014 Schedule Rumor: Cup Series will race at Road America and Southern 500 at Darlington returns to Labor Day Weekend.

Quote:
UPDATE:The 2014 Sprint Cup schedule is being debated behind closed doors, and some quite interesting twists appear on the table at the moment. Just a few weeks ago it looked like NASCAR didn't plan any major, or even minor, changes for 2014. Now, however, word is things have, for some reason, changed. What NASCAR eventually does with next year's Cup calendar seems up for review, with few sacred cows. Don't make any hotel reservations, but here are some possible moves:
-- Homestead might lose its spot as the season finale;
-- Phoenix might gain the final spot on the 2014 tour;
-- Sonoma could earn a spot in the playoffs, adding a California stop to the chase;
-- Road America, that picturesque road course at Elkhart Lake, Wis., an hour north of Milwaukee, could get a slot in the 2014 Cup schedule (even though NASCAR's Brian France earlier this year said he planned no new tracks on the tour next season);
-- how to fit a new track in the schedule? Dover could lose its late spring Cup weekend (keeping its early fall Cup date, in the chase), track boss Denis McGlynn, not unaccustomed to such speculation, would surely fight hard to keep both;
-- and -- hold your horses -- Darlington might even get its traditional Labor Day weekend Southern 500 back;
-- to fill that Mother's Day Saturday night slot, maybe a swap with Atlanta;
Of course after all this debate NASCAR might simply decide not to make any changes for 2014.(MikeMulhern.net)(9-17-2013)

UPDATE: NASCAR'S 2014 Sprint Cup tour is finally starting to take shape, it appears, with Darlington Raceway officially announcing its Southern 500 again on Mother's Day weekend Saturday, May 10th. Atlanta Motor Speedway is also announcing its 2014 Sprint Cup race date, Sunday, August 31. And Texas Motor Speedway appears ready to announce its 2014 Cup dates too this weekend. Track boss Eddie Gossage says he'll reveal his 2014 dates Monday evening.(MikeMulhern.net)(9-20-2013)

I like how Mulhern can't even properly date his rumors

Nice to see the #41 back. Be good to erase the memories of Jeremy Mayfield. Hope Kurt can put it back in victory lane!

Hope that's not the case, if so, hope he recovers. He's one of the few pit reporters I actually like.

Wonder Bread will sponsor the 78 car at Talladega and they will paint the car like the Wonder Bread car from Talladega Nights.

Gateway? Really? I thought the people who took over that track mainly did it to host drag racing events. The track itself is nice but they need to fix the parking situation there. I was at the last Nationwide Race there and the track isn't clear about which way is an exit and which way is a dead end. It was a guessing game as to how to leave the track. In any event, I wouldn't mind seeing the trucks return to Gateway since it's the closest track to me.

Austin? As in Circuit of the Americas? If so I wonder if it might be a companion event to the F1 race there.

For some reason I don't see either side being all that interested.

Just when you hoped that Rockingham getting a cup date was a prelude to bigger things....it goes and gets dropped :(

I like the other tracks mentioned but, not at the expense of the Rock. Not a fair trade IMO
