RIP Lira Motorsports. This is from thepitlane.org

Quote:
Lira Motorsports closes; no longer fielding ARCA entries: Lira Motorsports effectively closed on Monday, laying off all but four employees. Those individuals were told to start seeking work elsewhere as the team ceases operations. Lira started the season with four full time teams, but scaled back to two for #58 Kyle Weatherman and #38 Sheldon Creed after Toledo Speedway. Weatherman is expected to make an announcement, while Creed's plans are not immediately known. The Lira Motorsports organization began in 2015 and had scored multiple wins. It fielded cars for drivers such as David Levine, Michael Lira, Brandon Lynn, Jairo Avila Jr, Ryan Reed, and Tyler Dippel in its two year existence. (06-14-16)

I think it sucks that Kyle Weatherman, who was 3rd in points got the shaft like this. I'm going to predict that he ends up driving for the returning Roulo Brothers team. Kyle Weatherman is a Roush Development Driver and the Roulo Brothers going to be returning at some point this season with another Roush Development driver, Ty Majewski as the driver. I can see them running Weatherman running the remaining schedule in one of their cars with Majewski running a partial schedule in a second car. If not them, I can see him ending up with Cunningham Motorsports since they are the only other top Ford team in the series. I don't want to see Weatherman lose his shot at a championship over this.

Sucks to hear, especially since they had such potential for success. Considering they had been fielding 4 full-time teams, not to mention two Trucks at Daytona (both of which DNQ'd, which probably didn't help matters), you can basically pin their demise on getting way too big for their britches in such a short time frame.

It might have been a case of too much too soon but they haven't offered any explanation as to why they closed.

In other news, the Roulo Brothers are going to return this weekend at Madison with Wisconsin short track ace Ty Majewski debuting in the #17 car.

Kyle Weatherman will be in the #98 car for Mason Mitchell Motorsports this weekend. Glad to see that he's going to be in a very competitive car this week. The car that he's going to be in has 9 top 10 finishes in 11 races.

Good to see Nicole Behar on the ARCA entry list this weekend. She did an excellent job last season in K&N West racing her family owned stuff. Will be interesting to see what she can do in top notch Venturini ARCA equipment.

I think Anti-Monkey Butt Powder has been dethroned as the funniest sponsor to ever appear on an ARCA car. This is the hood from the #70 driven by Billy Alger at Lucas Oil Raceway

hearing there could be some throwback paint schemes at Salem in September, as it's the 100th ARCA race at the track.

4 series in total doing a throwback weekend now in September (NASCAR Cup/Xfinity @ Darlington, V8 Supercars @ Sandown being the other 3)

I wonder which ARCA teams are going to do throwback schemes. I can see Venturini having the #25 car painted like one of Bill Venturini's cars from the 80's.

Venturini participating wouldn't surprise me. They already did throwbacks at Chicagoland in 2012 for the team's 30th anniversary:

This might be the first throwback scheme unveiled for Salem. Thomas Praytor will be driving a Davey Allison tribute car.

Grant Enfinger is going to drive the #22 for Cunningham Motorsports at DuQuoin. Cunningham had said that they were going to have a surprise driving the #22 and Enfinger is it. I wasn't expecting it to be him, so I would consider this a surprise.

Hessert's Salem throwback, a homage to Bill Venturini's 1987 championship scheme:
