Ding ding ding! We have a winner!

Jeff Gluck from Twitter reports 50 points, $200,000 fine and six race suspension for the crew chief.

NASCAR is a joke.

You expect much from them?

It was also announced that Joe Gibbs will not get any owner points for the 20 team for the next 6 races. That will certainly kill them in owner points.

Well, I didn't watch Kansas as I got spoilered but there was definitely something unusual about the way Matt held off Kasey at Vegas on older tyres. Just saying.

Based on what I read on twitter, this wasn't an intentional infraction. TRD, who builds the engines for Joe Gibbs said that something happened to the connecting rod in question during the race which caused it to be too light. Mike Joy basically explained on Twitter that when it comes to Nascar engines, you're either legal or not, regardless of intent. If you're not legal for any reason, Nascar will punish for it.

How is having one connecting rod 3 grams underweight blatant, and worthy of a penalty like that? Seems excessively harsh to me, especially compared to some of the shit that they let go, particularly with Hendrick.

Yeah, aero. Kenseth ran the line Kahne was using, and Kahne couldn't get around him.

Well, the last time the 48 got in trouble with NASCAR, NASCAR punished them fairly severely too if memory serves right. The appeal failed to NASCAR, but it was the appeal to the commission above NASCAR that eventually overturned the penalty. That committee was led by a former Hendrick employee.

Also, according to NASCAR Today on MRN radio, if Kenseth is in wild card position for the chase, (11-20 in points after the September Richmond race) the Kansas win DOES NOT count towards wild card eligibility.

Quote:
NASCAR suspended crew chief Chad Knaus and car chief Ron Malec for six weeks, docked Johnson and the team 25 points and fined Knaus $100,000 for violations involving unapproved aerodynamic modifications.

The C-posts are the sections of the car body that extend from the roof to the rear quarter panel. Hendrick has said he believes NASCAR should have placed templates on the car, which had passed similar inspections in 2011. NASCAR officials said the C-posts did not look right and that they used gauges to confirm the violation and then confiscated the C-posts.

So basically the same penalty the 2/22 got, the 20 teams is double that, and is a black/white area, due to it being engine and specs.. basically it's identical to the Carl Long penalty.

NASCAR has done everything but DQ the #20 team.

The winner's car is always taken to R&D for inspection. Kenseth was obviously legal that week.

Bingo, just ask Carl Long.... He got his engines from Ernie Elliot...his was 17ten thousandths of an inch to big....he got a similar fine.

Could have happened during the race but Lee White of TRD gave in interview saying they checked all the engines they had including engines at JGR, MWR, etc and found multiple rods that were just at the minimum weight and took them back to TRD. So it doesn't seem like an isolated incident.

He hasn't had the season most of us had hoped for, plus he doesn't tweet as much about his race team as he used to. Now, he has been relegeted on doing silly promos .

Tony Stewart has filed a patent to trademark the #4 for Stewart-Hass. Looks like it will be a clear lock for Harvick next year at SHR.
