But a benefit of this slightly later start to the season is that that early season off-week that was always floating around is now a thing of the past. Only Easter weekend and the third week of July won't feature a Cup event.

I just read on Jayski that it's now confirmed that Scott Bloomquist will drive a Kyle Busch Motorsports entry at Eldora.

DuPont (Jeff Gordon's sponsor since the dawn of time) is now Axalta Coating Systems.

Saw this.. I was hoping someone would post it as I was just too lazy to do so. Just waiting for a paint scheme.

Surely they won't change the brand name though, DuPont has a long history and is known world wide. Who knows how to pronounce Axalta, let alone who they are?

The DuPont name is gone. A thing of the past now. Like SPEED come August.

DuPont still exists, it's just the paint division that's been sold and renamed.

Good to know. I thought the entire name was disappearing.

It looks like Jay Robinson is going to give the Sprint Cup Series another try. This is from Jayski.

Quote:
Nemechek, Jay Robinson teaming up on #87: NEMCO and Jay Robinson Racing will combine efforts to field the #87 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Toyota. The plan also includes fifteen Nationwide Series races. The new NEMCO - JRR team will use engines provided by Race Engines Plus. "There is a long history of friendship between the two organizations, so this is going to be a great opportunity for everyone involved ", says Jay Robinson. "Both groups have a lot to bring to the table and I am very excited to partner with Jay Robinson and go racing this year." commented Joe Nemechek. The first outing for the NEMCO-JRR team will be the Daytona Nationwide race followed by the Daytona 500. More information concerning crew chief and sponsors will be coming soon.

Speaking of....
Quote:
David Newton (@DNewtonespn)

#NASCAR will reallocate the purse from 39-43 by increments of $4,000 to discourage start and parkers.

I could be wrong, but I interpreted it as:

39. Prize Money - $4000
40. Prize Money - $8000
41. Prize Money - $12000
42. Prize Money - $16000
43. Prize Money - $20000

That would seem like the likely route to go.

So gaining positions earns you less money? I'm not understanding the logic of that.

Good. He'll be ready to take over the #1 car in a year or two.

That is my assumption anyway.
