He asked people on Facebook if they had any questions for TBR and of course there were like 40 questions right off the bat on whos driving the car and other random stuff.

That would be a hell of a telegram though.

So I was watching Vevo last night and stumbled across this. I had not seen it since it was released in 1996. You will probably never see anything like this again.

I recall going to the NASCAR Cafe in Orlando during the late-90's and this was playing on one of the big screens on repeat.

Had no idea what song it was until now. Thanks.

That video brought back a rush of memories. First, I miss watching motor madness every friday night. :(

Also, wasn't there some female anchor host lady who got abducted in a WWF style fake plot thing? I remember the show ending with her being kidnapped or something and the screen going blank.

yeah, cause she was pregnant and wanted to make it entrtaining.

Wish there was video of that. I'll give you this gem though (skip to 12:10 for the good stuff):

Good Bye Trackside.

Quote:
More on some NASCAR TV shows: Rumors include the end of the Trackside series on SPEED which was drastically changed last season into an unwatchable mess. Shows like RaceDay, RaceHub and Victory Lane are set to return. Bob Varsha is stepping into the former Leigh Diffey role and handling sports cars on SPEED beginning with the Rolex 24 at Daytona. Diffey departed SPEED for NBCSN where he will handle Formula One and IndyCar telecasts. There have been no announcements on the TNT and ESPN portions of the Sprint Cup Series TV package changing hands. Rumors include FOX wanting the six TNT races and NBC perhaps interested in the ESPN package. You may remember that ESPN also televises the entire Nationwide Series. The current TV deal expires after the 2014 season.(Daly Planet)(12-27-2012)

It was pretty brutal last year.

Regarding the Dusty Rhodes vid...I usually feel wistful and nostalgic when I see "old" clips of racing from when I was young. But that was one of the first times that I watched an old clip and thought, "yeah that was fucking lame." And it actually felt good for a change.

It had potential, but the last couple of years it was unwatchable. I don't know why they get to need to take something good on Speed and shit all over it, but it can stop any time.

Is Wind Tunnel returning? You'd think once they transition to Fox Sports 1, they'd start putting NFL post-game coverage or something when football season starts.

UPDATE: James (Finch) telling Newschannel 7 Sports he's committed to run at least 18 Cup races in 2013, starting with the Daytona 500. He says he's secured a sponsor for both Daytona races in February, but won't announce that sponsor until after the first. James says Regan Smith will drive for Phoenix in the Daytona 500. Finch will use Smith for some other Cup races, though he'll have to share Smith, since he will drive the Nationwide Series for JR Motorsports. Allmendinger is another driver Finch would like to use on the Cup Series. AJ ran the final four races of 2012 for Phoenix and James says he liked how AJ handled the car. Allmendinger though apparently considering some offers to race Indy cars. As for running the whole cup circuit, Finch says he's hoping for some early success and that more sponsorship will come along, making running a full slate more possible.(News Channel 7, Panama City Beach, FL)(12-28-2012)

McMurray signed a contract extension with Earnhardt Ganassi Racing for 2013, no word if it is long-term or just for 2013. Longtime #1 sponsor, Bass Pro Shops, will move to #14-Tony Stewart's Chevy, but supposedly sponsor the #1 for a race in 2013. McDonald's will be the primary sponsor for the more then the 13 races they sponsored in 2012. Liftmaster [was the sponsor in Sept NHMS race] and Bass Pro Shops are scheduled to be primary sponsor each for a race. The team will switch from Earnhardt-Childress Racing engines to running engines leased from Hendrick Motorsports. Crew Chief Kevin "Bono" Manion is signed thru at least 2013. No word if Belkin [was sponsor in Sept NHMS race] or Banana Boat [was sponsor in June Pocono race] return to sponsor a race as they did in 2012 or if AllState Insurance returns as a co-sponsor. See more about other teams on my 2013 Team / Driver Silly Season Chart.(12-28-2012)

The fact that Finch has a sponsor for "both Daytona races in February" probably means that he is going to have a car in the Shootout, which I'm assuming will be driven by AJ since Regan didn't have a pole last year. Unless Finch wants to run Kenny Schrader, that is

Kasey Kahne and Brad Sweet will be moving to JR Motorsports in the Nationwide Series in 2013. Great Clips will be sponsor.

So Kasey Kahne's going to underwhelm in someone else's Nationwide equipment, cool I suppose. I'd rather see Sweet full-time and then Kahne doing oddball races instead of a split in the same car, but then again they're not my cars.

Keep in mind, the whole reason the Eury's left JRM was because Dale wouldn't bring in Cup guys to evaluate and improve team performance.

Apparently the new fiscal cliff bill includes a $78 million tax break for NASCAR. Found that interesting...

Its mainly freebies to corporations. Hope NASCAR doesn't hoard all of their money and instead uses it to improve on-track completion.
