I don't see why they have to give out the award if it's not deserved.

It's about meeting criteria, not what is deserved. Essentially the same as how you win any championship - you meet the criteria. Sometimes champions don't deserve it, but the rules say they get it. Same here.

Disagree. It's about competition. Rookie of the year doesn't have to be a competition. It should be a recognition from peers.
Otherwise you're taking all the fun out of sport.

I remember when Conway won the ROTY award, I was watching a stream of the press conference. Nobody really asked him any questions. I believe the moderator did, but no one else

At least in 2013 there will be a Rookie of the Year who won't be either a) a backmarker or b) racing to the garage every week since Ricky Stenhouse Jr. is going to be a rookie next year.

Eldora with the trucks is likely to be announced today.

Was hoping for South Boston or Myrtle Beach too, but I'll take a dirt race.

I was hoping for NASCAR to go back to its roots with a trip back to Hickory, Greenville Pickens, or those Starlancer mentioned above... going back to Rockingham was a nice start, but for them to go WAYYYY back to their roots and drive on dirt again is a bit odd.

Don't get me wrong, though. I can't wait to see that!

Have they said anything about the format for the race? I would hope that they would do it dirt track style with heat races, then a main and such.

I bet that Tony Stewart wants to be in that race.

I can see this being the biggest cluckerfest since Indy 2005, or the greatest race of the year.

Pretty cool vid, actually.

Race will be a mess though, unless they get a ton of testing time.

Kenny Wallace already has a deal in place to run the truck race at Eldora. He'll be in a Toyota for Robby Benton Racing with Jegs as the sponsor. Not surprised that Jegs is sponsoring him because they sponsor his dirt cars and they are based in Ohio.

Won't surprise me if Stewart or Schrader decided to run as well.
