Is it an illusion? They're close to each other and they're throwing everything they have in the battle. It was cool to watch, not to say it will transfer to tomorrow, but we can hope.

Didn't Lewis just get on the white line or maybe a little bit of grass when braking?

No, in press conference Lewis said he blocked the rears.

Interesting report from BBC.
Quote:
Lewis Hamilton's pole time of 1:08.455 is just 0.547secs slower than the all-time quickest lap at this track, which was set by Michael Schumacher in a 2003 Ferrari.
With a 3.0-litre V10.
In the middle of a tyre war.
And with unlimited fuel flow.
Not bad for a hybrid.

Ferrari should dump Kimi and put Esteban in the car for the rest of the year. Give someone young and with motivation a chance. Next year they can then stick Hulk or Bottas alongside Vettel.

Bring Hulkenberg in now. The man is full of motivation.
Never thought I'd say it, but Kimi has to go (soon too please).

That's just BS. Sure, Kimi wasn't quick enough on his last timed lap, but there was still nearly a minute on the clock after that. Kimi said in the interview that he thought he had one more lap left. Clearly a miscommunication and bad timing from the team. They should already know how to deal qualifying with Kimi. In Canada they made the right calls and the result was good.

In Canada Kimi threw away a sure podium position. In Canada Kimi finished barely a handful of seconds up the road from his team mate who had to fight his way through from the back of the field.

I've been sympathetic to Kimi's plight at Ferrari for a long while. But enough is enough now.

McLaren's reliability woes go from bad to worse. Didn't expect them to be quite this bad at this point in the season, ouch.

In Canada same thing happened like last year. After Kimi's pitstop the throttle setup was wrong. Weather it was a mistake by the team or the driver is uncertain, apparently it was also a miscommunication issue. This isn't about what Kimi's doing on the track, it's about how co-operation with him and the team goes.

Ferrari has enough resources to get things right for both of them. Lately it's been the team that's made the wrong calls more than the driver. Let's see how things goes for him tomorrow. Two weeks ago people praised Vettel for gaining many positions during the race. Montreal and Austria both have good opportunities to do so. Finishing in the top6 shouldn't be impossible if we have a similar race than in Canada.

Another promising young guy could've been in position to take that seat, but fate decided otherwise. :(

I've just watched both laps side by side. Hamilton matches Schumacher all over sector 1 and then he loses the edge at Turn 3. And then the gap seems to increase a little bit through the middle part of the track. And then comes the last corner, when Schumacher almost lost it, but the apex speeds were so good back in 2003 that he barely lost anything compared to Lewis. Hamilton's top speed was 329 kph and Schumacher's was around 310.
